Default estacada lake

i'm planning to take the canoe and the wife up to estacada lake this weekend. without giving up your secret spot, can anyone tell me a good place to go to get into the trout there?

???
Do you mean North Fork Reservoir?

Don't know about Estacada Lake.

I'll tell ye what I know about NFR anyway.
Most of the fishing is around the campground, upstream from the ramp/store/parking lot - in the speed limit zone. Troll a flasher and worm, or just drag a worm around. Pretty easy to catch little hatchery trout. I've also caught them on flies.

Up where the river flows in can be good, I've seen huge whitefish there - you might even get a ride with a steelhead.

Another place to try is along the far shore towards the dam.

hey - crawdad trap!

Is there an Estacada Lake? Where is it?

yes, virginia, there is an estacada lake.

seems i'm explaining this to everyone i bring it up with. shoulda kept my mouth shut since no one seems to know about it.

up 224, just before the town of estacada is a turn out on the right for timber park. once you get there, you can follow the signs to estacada lake. it is the impoundment created by rivermill dam and the boat ramp is right next to the dam. odfw stocks it quite regularly and of course there's always the steelhead passing through. anybody know where on the clackamas odfw picks out the hatchery fish? do they cull them out at cazadero dam or do they do it lower on the river?

Ampersat, The hatchery steelhead on the clack come from the Dog Creek hatchery at Mckiver. They probably get the rest at rivermill since they are keeping the upper river as "native" only They may get them at north fork. Just my guess. I know they are returning a lot back down river almost everyday from Dog Creek.
