Default Good trout action

If any of you have the no fish cathing disease head to Devils Lake in Lincoln City. Just spent a week over there fishing and golfing.
The fish are averaging around 14 inches and my grandson caught a 20 incher that was not fin clipped and we had to release. The fish are in excellent shape, fat, pink, and firm.
Half and Half LakeTroll with a nightcrawler on 18 inches of leader and no weight. Early morning to around 10 am is best. I was using 4lb. test leader and they were breaking it quite often. Just remember the daily limit is 5 and they must be fin clipped. Try it you will like it. Fish the area out in front of the boat ramp that is just south of the Blue Heron Marina. We had the best luck just making a big circle in that area. Cagey.

So there are actually native fish in this lake? I'm not familiar with many lakes in Oregon-except for a few in south-eastern Oregon.

yes there are native fish in the lake. There used to be a run of steelhead into the lake via D River about 20 years ago. I beleave most of the fish that have not been clipped are ODFW plants that have been in the lake for a long time. The average size of the fish and the good fight makes it a blast to fish for them with lite gear. I dont know how or if they are reproducing.

They just dumped a bunch of 2 & 3 pounders into Trillium Lake on Mt. Hood. This is a picture postcard location to visit and fish.

Egg slip sinker above a swivel. Leader to swivel. May need to adjust length to find the fish. Floating bait like power bait, with one salmon egg, floating up off the bottom or marshmellow & egg. Single egg hook or #50 treble holds the power bait better.

26 East to the top. Exit is the right not too far past Government Camp on the downside. Look for the sign. Bank or no motor boat fishing. Swimmers may take over mid day in the Sun.
