Re: Thinking of moving to Canada
When everyone in the world is trying to sneak into the United States and we are over run with illegals immagrants, it doesn't make sense to go against the mob and move to Canada. This is the best country in the world why move?????
Good Luck;

Yeah, kind of a weird question. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of someone wanting to move to Canada (or Alaska for that matter) without even having a job offer up their.
What is it you are looking for up there? Better hunting?? Better fishing??? Free gubment goodies???? Want to say -A- after every sentence?????
Good luck.

I don't know if it would be legal to bring your rifle with you on the move.
Personally I like the western 1/3 of Canada. The Yukon is really nice.

Re: Thinking of moving to Canada
You cant just "move" to Canada. I was told it is actually difficult to obtain permanent residency. Or, you could just swim across

Re: Thinking of moving to Canada
I'll have to admit, after spending time in BC, Alberta and NorthWest Territories, Canada looks good to me.
They actually enforce their immigration laws.

Okay, now we're back on topic without the scenic side trips down the Foreign Policy Highway to Locksville.

You're going to need a craft/trade, college education, etc. to be allowed citizenship in Canada. They are very protective of thier social services. But the hunting/fishing is good. Eh?

Re: Thinking of moving to Canada
Wife went for a week visit to Vancouver BC with the families and really love the area and wanted to see if we can move down there. I have never move from one country to the other so, I thought someone here might have some experience in it and know some immigration laws that are involve. I did some research and BC is a great place to live but housing price is the same here in portland.

Re: Thinking of moving to Canada
start the application process not it takes a long time. knew a woman who married a canadian and it still took months until she was allowed to move there. and no she didn't have any legal issue to sort out just their way.

Re: Thinking of moving to Canada
You may want to look into the tax situation as well. Assuming they will even allow you to move into the country, you may be shocked at the tax rates.

Re: Thinking of moving to Canada
They are going to make you take a blood test as well. If you have any kind of STD like HIV, HSV2, Hepatitis B, or HPV, etc. you will be turned down as ineligible to immigrate because they believe you will be to great a tax on their free health care system. Some other diseases fall into this category as well. I have a friend in England that is a hemophiliac and he was turned down for immigration to Canada because of it and told that those other diseases make you ineligible as well.
