Summer Halibut Season Newport

Hi Everyone,
A newbie here on my first post but have been monitoring for a while. Here is my fishing story. During May, I looked for halibut at the south rock pile. Had good luck every time. On our last trip out , the halibut were no where to be found. My wife caught a record 4 skate and I caught a dog fish.Then I had a huge hit, struggled reeling it up sure it was best catch of the day........ it was a piece of concrete from 260 feet , with barnacles, sea urchins and the likes.....I could not believe it!!! That hook was so strong and sharp!!
Well enough funny stories.......
Did anyone have any luck finding halibut out of Newport???

We fish the south end of the rock pile and got are fish both sat and sun.
The charter said they got there fish to so they are still there.
