Silvies UNIT FIRE

Our party drew Silvies deer tags. Will the forest service open the area near Delintment Lake before deer season.

I was on the Incident Management Team that fought that fire. Alot of country burned around that area but most was a good underburn so the country will be good and not totally destroyed. I would call the forest service in Burns to find out. If you look at www.inciweb.org and look for the Egley Complex under Oregon, you can find maps that show what area burned. We did a bunout on my division and I had small bucks and does bedded down as the fire crept withing 100 yds of them. They just walked off. Good luck

www.geomac.gov has a pretty good map also that lets you zoom in and check out the fire perimeters, the site linked above has the incident maps from each day which also give you a good idea of where the fire was. Here it is in relation to the whole silvies unit and the area near delitment lake:

Deer do have a certain affinity for chewing on charcoal.

there was another 100 acre fire yesterday about 22 miles north of burns. careful out there it is a tender box.
