Default Trojan Pond?

Hey there everyone, I just took my family out to the Trojan pond for the first time today and while it's an absolutely beautiful area and well maintained I was left wondering if there is much of a fishery there outside of the planted trout in the spring?

We spent several hours there and I ended up throwing pretty much everything in my tackle box at it and ended up with out so much as a nibble. Now up to this point I can understand the fish being lock-jawed, or myself just being incompetent but with the help of my daughter we caught a grasshopper to use as bait and I've never know fish to be able to pass up on a thrashing lively hopper but I still didn't have any lookers. I'd even be happy with just carp or catfish but didn't see any signs of them.

Yes, there are other fish in there. We don't fish it much but I can tell you there are LMB and bluegill for sure. It gets pounded pretty hard when they dump trout there so the crowd that fishes it most are "meat fishermen"(not as likely to practice C&R). I think the biggest bass we've caught there was 18". My son would fish it out of a small boat. Don't really remember fishing it this time of year though. Hope that helps.

That's what I was kind of figuring, which is really too bad it's such a beautiful place to take the young ones it would be nice if there were more fish to be had.

Thanks anyways!

I have fished it probably 10-15 times in the past 3-4 years. I've fished it from the trout opener clear into about this time. There are fish in there, I won't deny that. I have caught fish just using worms off the bottom (mooching style rig with 2 hooks). But I have caught some bass using small Rapalas and grubs as well. A friend of mine caught a 2.5lb LMB the first time I fished it (about 4 years ago). He was using a small rainbow trout-colored rapala. That is the biggest fish I've ever seen caught out of there. The fish are finicky but they are in there. You can also fish a worm underneath a bobber. We always fished on the far right side of the lake, in the little cove near the walking bridge. I have also caught catfish, carp, perch, and bluegill using worms.
Hope it helps

The biggest bass I have pulled out of that pond is about 4 pounds. I normaly get bass on every trip, just not many good ones.
