Default Are you finished outfitting yourself?

For the upcoming big game season?

So far since last season, I’ve added:

2 Tree stands
1 Camelback backpack
1 Pair boots

Still need for this coming season:

Rain gear, at least pants.
Shooting sticks (maybe a want, not need)

On the list for next year:

Reloading Kit - RCBS Rock Chucker
Scope - Leupold VX –II to replace my Bushnell Banner

How bout you?

I'm finished for this season. But I'm still working on the '08 season. I need to find an enclosed trailer, (have one in mind), and a snow fly for my new wall tent.

For wants I'd like one of the new rangefinders that compensate for uphill/downhill shots.

Most likely. I got a new bow fully set up, new arrows with FOBs, some new camo hot weather cloths. Buuuuuuuttttttttttt!!!!
Looks like I'll be satrting a new job in the next couple of weeks so there go's any time off. I just hope I can get out on the weekends, the project is already behind so I'll be putting in lots of OT.

I need one of them "easy elk" standing by the road waiting for me.
Good luck everyone!!!

So far purchased: 7 trail cameras, a bow w/ everything, deer decoy, treestand, full-body harness, climbing sticks, boots, GPS, game cart. Still need a pack and a few clothes, rangfinder and maybe binos. I have been amazed what you can get with little money and how much $ you can come up with by selling unused stuff on ebay- I have spent little to nothing out of pocket so far but have been very careful about all my purchases. No, but you know your getting close when the garage is FULL and you have a hard time finding things.
..........Maybe I need to outfit myself w/ a bigger garage.

I think your "unused stuff" is a little different than ours

finished?? are you kidding? the more stuff i get the more stuff i need to get to go with what i already have.

bought a decoy cart..now i need another 4 dozen decoys and a bag. no sense in having a cart for just one bag of dekes. and..since i have a cart and (soon to have more decoys) i will probably make a few more trips out to SI this year..which means i need to buy a pullstring motion deke of some sort.

added a boat to the arsenal this year. so aside from the neverending list of things one needs to buy for a boat, add to the equation a Marsh Rat and a dozen Full Curl dekes just for the boat.

the list keeps getting bigger with every purchase. lol. buy one thing..add 3 more to the list. it's a vicious cycle.

There is an old duck hunting maxim:

If your boat is too small for all your decoys, you need a new boat.
If all your decoys fit in your boat, you need more decoys.

It's never, ever over. To be over, would be un-American. Buy, buy, buy!

This year i added a few items to my outdoor inventory....

New boots, danner frontiers.

New pack with bladder, got it from bass pro for a sawweeet price.

Kershaw axe/knife combo. 16 inch camp axe/pelvis splitter with a fixed blade knife in the handle, impulse buy but very cool.

20lb propane tank and a 5ft hose so i don't have to waste money on the little 1lb cylinders anymore.

Behind the seat gun rack for my truck.

Thats it FOR NOW. I'm sure i'll get another catalog and feel obligated to buy SOMETHING. I'll be in big trouble when the sportsmans guide shows up in the mail.

Since last season I have added:

Weatherby Mark V Accumark in 300 WBY Mag with 4.5x14x40 Leupold Scope
Leupold 2.5x8 for my 338 win mag
1 pair meindl boots
Cabelas version of the lead sled
Blacks Creek fanny pack with hydration system
Midland 26 mile radios
Savage 17HMR with Bull barrell & thumbhole stock
New 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel 4X4
And numerous incidental items. I am sure I will need more before I leave to Idaho for a Elk & Deer Hunt. I am also hunting archery in Oregon so there always braodheads, etc.........
My wife is starting to raise her eyebrow now, when I say I need to go to Sportsmans Warehouse.I did take her to Hawaii also, but she would not let me hunt. I tried!!!
I am just glad she is an understanding wife.

You had to take her to Hawaii? Have you ever taken her hunting with you? I considered doing this at one time and then reality set in. Not only would I have to continue to support my own hunting needs but she might actually like too, then I'd be out twice as much each season... Hawaii sounds like a pretty good deal.

She rarely goes hunting with me. The great thing is I have a 2 yr old son. She has already said "I guess my vacations are gonna be hunting trips when he gets old enough to go". I have said it before I have a great wife.

I refuse to discuss this on an open forum just in case my wife is keeping tabs on my spendings.

For some reason she thinks that because I have enough gear to go, I have enough gear?
