Sat Newport Tuna
Yo Dogs,
We made it out today North and West of Banana. A little West of where Retaliate said from Friday. The Ocean was not too friendly but the fish are still there. A guy could have filled the boat if he was tough enough to take the pounding! Pretty rough coming home N wind at 20, short steep wind waves and a SE course.
The fish are still there for those of you thinking about early next week! Fish ON!! M Mike

Re: Sat Newport Tuna
Way to go, Mike! Glad to hear the fish are still in the area, and that you got into some. Sure makes you tired though, doesn't it, fighting the seas all day. My hat is off to you!

Re: Sat Newport Tuna
Hi Jim,
My ol bones feel it tonite. We had a couple sickies on the boat and that made the work load a little much! The Ocean was just rough enough to make it seem a little like work. But. The fish are still there in spades and they were BIG today...Mike Stowe with the Blitz was on em in the same area and it looked like he was really busy!! Fish ON!! M Mike I don't remember my exact numbers but most of the fish were three or four miles West of and 3 or four miles North of Banana Bank.

Re: Sat Newport Tuna
We are going out of Depoe Bay on Monday if anyone is interested in going as a "buddy boat"? Our current plan is to go a few miles NW of the Banana Bank and then start trolling and see what we can find. As always, we'll be on channel 78 VHF and 21 CB (we also monitor 16 VHF but like to keep it for emergencies only). Last week we got up to 45.02 and filled our boat before 9:30am. Hopefully we can get a repeat! The current forecast is for 5' swells at 6 seconds from the NW, with a 1' wind wave also from the NW. The swell interval will slow down the trip out but should be fine coming home, hopefully loaded down with long fins!

Maverick will be running out of Newport, heading for the same area. I'll be on 78 and 16, should be a good day.

Thank you for the report, I am heading out tomorrow with my 2301 WA Seaswirl is the banana about 30 miles west of Depot? I found a banana looking current on the chart stored in my GPS I have been fishing west of Newport 25 to 35 miles out and getting in to the fish 30 pounders but only boating 16 on my last trip.

Re: Sat Newport Tuna
Banana is about 25 from Depoe, Fri. plenty of fish were at the 53/28 54/29 area, 50out, & Tortuga, found fish right at Banana just South & West of where we were Fri. hope this helps.
