Default Vehicle Vandalism on Kilchis

this afternoon I decided to try a little fly flinin' in the Lower Kilchis. I parked my car in the Bay City Water area (Off the main road) After 3 hours of catching small fish I decided to return to the car. In that time, someone had busted out the front side window and popped the hood, removing the battery and throwing it in the mud!! If I hadnt really looked at the crime area, I wouldnt have noticed it. Fortunatly I was able to drive back home, but the day was damaged! to members of the board: 1. Is it better to always park UP ON THE MAIN ROAD, and 2. What would possess someone to bust into a car and just sabotage it. I cant see that anything was stolen, even though there was a radio/cassett and change in the money box!! what was the point of it?? Someone told me there is a number of homeless/drifters who live on the upper river. At least Ill get my 24 dinners at Sweet Tomatoes from Empire Glass!! What is this country coming to? I would have EXPECTED!! this up the Columbia Gorge!! Do we have to Booby Trap our cars before we go anywhere? Or lay in wait until some DS shows up for a "good time??!"
Im really interested in hearing others opinions and suggestions.
THANKS AGAIN FOR HEARING ME OUT. IM BEYOND AMAZED!

Man, I know how you feel. I've had the same sad experiences. Fortunatly, this hasn't happened to me fishing yet, though I was parked next to a guy last year that it happened too while I was fishing with my sons for trout at a local lake. They did a number on their truck and stole some tapes and stuff. My stomach sunk when I came up on their truck, but for some reason they didn't touch mine. I hate parking my truck at ramps overnight, because I hear these horror stories of people caving in all the lights on rigs, smashing windsheilds, and just being mean. I don't have any good suggestions. I'm not going to give up my habits, but I still try to park in open-view areas and when I can arrange it, I'll have a freind or family member take my truck from the boat ramp when I'm camping overnight. I'll have them pick me up a designated time at the launch.

Good Luck. We all need it these days.
