Default Rockpile...

Three of us headed out of Newport today to break-in my new used 20'Trophy. We ran all the way out to the rockpile to find that we were the only boat in sight, and after a fishless hour moved in to where a friend was catching fish about 5 miles west of Waldport. The charters were working this area pretty hard and we ended up hooking 7 fish here and 4 more off of seal rock. We took home three clipped coho's and released a native. One fish I hooked using a brass blue fox with a large siwash on an HSR9000S on 10lb test while we were drifting. One cast, one fish that broke off my only spinner. That was a hoot and I guarantee i'll try that one some more.... Joe

Joe....What do you think of that new boat? Does it handle the big water well?

Keep thinking I need to add a deep water boat to the fleet....and maybe a small sled??

Nice to have dreams.

Bill

We were in 3 to 5 foot wind chop for a total of nearly 50 miles and although it didn't exactly cut through like butter, it was a day and night difference from the sled. There's no way I would have taken a sled out today... Joe

Salmo....congrats on the new boat. What year and how's she running? Nice to see you already got her broken in.

Dissapointed you had to travel so far to locate some fish. Last Friday they were almost straight out at 5 miles. I'll be checking the mail for the invite.

My buddy has a 22' Trophy that we take out the Gate. I can safely say that I have never felt in danger in that boat even when the seas have whipped up on us! You should get lots of reward out of that boat Sal.

Keep then rods bent,

Thomas

Alright!!!! My very BEST friend and all around great guy Salmo got himself a new boat! Sorry about all of the bad things I was saying about you when you sold your sled .

Can you tell I haven't been out silver fishing yet? I've resorted to buttering up Joe . However, I was out on the water today for work, out of Newport. Very unfriendly water today, to both me and my breakfast.
