Tualatin River 8.1.07
Got out of work a little too late to bring the boat out yesterday, and the old lady already had plans, so I was going fishing regardless, so a buddy and I decided to bank it yesterday evening. Went out on the Tualatin River from about 630 till dark, and the fishing was pretty good, for bank fishing.
We caught a lot of fish right around 1 to 1.5 lbs, mostly on 3" Senko's. The biggest was right over 3 lbs (see pic below) caught on a spinnerbait, the only spinnerbait bite of the day. We basically threw everything we had, but almost every bite came on soft plastics. At dusk, I threw a Spook, and they were rolling on it a bunch, but not eating 'em.
Then the bugs came out, a million little aphids (or some other type of bug) came out and we had to scram. I have fished for many years, and I have never seen a swarm of bugs that big in my life...
But all in all, a great day of fishing. Its easy to forget how much fun (and sometimes more challenging) bank fishing can be.

I was near the mouth.... I really like the Tualatin below the dam, you can wade most of the water in there and it doesn't get a lot of pressure, especially away from the popular fishing points

Thats a really nice fish for the T. A trophy, I would say. I used to try to fish some of the waters near Fox Hills in Tualitan when I lived up there, but never had much luck.

Nice work. I fish the Tualitan quite a bit, often in the exact spot your standing and do pretty well. Definately kill the squaw fish though. There are a bunch!!

Not sure if I could call that one a trophy, we have caught bigger fish in there. This fish was pretty skinny, I hope I can hook her again come late September, may be over 4 lbs then....

I have not caught one Squaw Fish on the Tualatin this year, but last year we caught a bunch, and I can say everyone of those became Osprey food!!
You fished the same spot, have you had the crazy old man yell at you yet? If not you will, for no reason... He has hung a sign recently on that path saying, "Lincensed Fisherman Only" and bunch of other nonesense about calling the police and having video surviellence on that spot.... The guy is a nut, just glad he finally got used to us fishing there.

Yea.. that is the downside to that spot. One time me and my buddies were there, and I guess were making too much noise catching fish, and he came out and yelled at us. O well. The fishing is good though!
