Default This weekend's tuna - Newport/Depoe?

I know that many (most) everybody is going to be up north for the OTC, but was curious about who might be fishing Newport/Depoe this weekend. I'm figuring on going out of Newport Saturday and wondered if I'd have the ocean all to myself.

We will make a try at it out of DB, depending on the weather. Just hoping the reports get better. 2 on 6 is duable, but Sundays 4 on 7 is pretty sporty.

Will be working all weekend, so I won't be out there to enjoy it with ya.

Good luck if ya make it out. The way the wind has been howling in the afternoons all week, I'd make sure to get out early and back in early.

Jim, I will probably give it a go again. Not sure which port yet, Depoe or Newport? It depends on how the weather shapes up? My first choice is Halibut, then Salmon. Tuna would be the last on the list because of the weather and the cold water which I'm sure has sent them offshore a bit!

Ken, I'd like to go Friday, but my brother is driving up Fri morning to go out Saturday. And of course Saturday is iffy, so I don't know how far we'll get, but like TWB, maybe we'll get out for salmon.

Sure would like to get him into a tuner.

At this point, Friday looks like the best day out of Newport. Unless the weather forecast goes south, the Black Jack will be running on Friday. We'll look for you out there. Bob

I'm keeping my options open, I will have Tuna, Halibut, & Salmon gear on board just in case. Hope Saturday/Sunday co-operates for you.

I am going to try Friday and Saturday weather permitting, I will give you a shout. Keep your fingers crossed for a better than predicted Ocean. Salmon early may be an option. That is if I can manage to get up early! Fish ON!! Mike

Skein, I'll have a crew of 3 out of Depoe Bay for salmon. If ocean is nice may go out to banana for halibut. Hope you can get into the tuna!

Wet Sand Just up-graded the forecast for Fri, Should be good, I'm going out of Depoe, with 2 Tunagins, & 1 Haligin, will decide in the morning if Tuna is do-able, other wise Halibut, & or Salmon. How about you Mike?

Welp, it just looks toooo close to make an easy decision, but I can't afford to drag the boat over just to have breakfast and come back home - like I did last Sunday. I hate to fish a "window" because if the prediction is off just a few hours it can turn a possible trip into a washing machine.

So I think we'll set this one out, and try again later. That probably means a nice ocean for you guys that perservered. Good luck to ya!

If the ocean fishable, I'll be trying for halibut and then some longfins. Hoping to leave the dock at 7 or 8ish. It's 11:05 PM and I'm still packing for the 10-day trip, plus 5+ hours drive to Depoe and all day fishing...I'm exhausted thinking about it. Hail me if you make it out!

I'll have laptop this trip and will keep my fellow SD's posted on the ocean conditions.

Yo dogs,
12:00 midnight Friday the 3rd. The wind is down to ten mph at Newport. Stonewall is still blowing pretty good tho. Maybe it will lay down some more by morning. We are going to try it. Thanks for the report Ken! See you next time Jim. Fish ON!! Mike
