Default Glacier Bay Demo's Sunday 8/5/07

Anybody interested in a Glacier Bay demo please come by the docks in Hammond on Sunday. We'll have a few different models including the 2270, 2665, 2680, and the 3480.

Demos will probably start around 9am and go till around 2pm unless you make other arrangements. If you'd like a demo but need to go at another time please give me a ring at 503-332-7785. I'll be running the 34 up the coast so if I don't answer please leave me a voicemail and I'll return your call as soon as I get back into range.

Enjoy the OTC tournament and be safe out there.

Thanks,

Rod

I'd be very interested if the demo is about a 35-40 mile ride out, slowing down considerably for a couple hours to "really get the feel", and then of course we'd have to put a few fish on board to make sure it'll hold fish, and lastly I'll need to see how it rides back when plugged with tuna. Yep, that sounds like a great demo.

But if you did that, you would come back, mortgage the house, cash in the kids' college funds, and buy one. Guaranteed.

The first ride is free.

Yes, a very nice ride. There is no question that a cat is smooth. Never been in a finer ride. The only question one has to ask is how are they going to pay for a smooth ride and a quality boat., Rod can I now have that 32 mile demo ride and run aroundi n that rather large fishing deck. Being very seroius now the 26 GB is just wonderful but a little out of my price range today. But there is next week. Do yourself a favor and take a ride you will be impressed. I receive nothing should one want to buy a GB, just appreciate a fine ride.

If Rod can't make you a deal, shop around.....

I got a 2001 model 2690 Coastal Runner with the duel 150 Yami HPDI's (2001 Also) for a steal.....

I had my eye on this boat for 2 month's and finally got the price I needed for my tin can albeit it wasn't what it should have been. However, when you want something really bad I am the kind of person who will take a little less and make the deal..... The motors only had 125 hours each on them so I am very fortunate to find that boat.....

Like I said, I bet Rod can make you a heck of a deal on one and you will be glad you did if you make the leap....

One of the best things is that you can load up 180 gallons of fuel on that puppy and go that extra 15 to 20 miles necessary to find those long range tuners and not worry about the reserve being in the tank..... Peace of mind is where it is at when you make a run in this boat.

I still have allot to learn with this duel hull thing but it is surely a pleasure handling and I am sure it will get better each time I go out

Bernie gave me an expert 6-hour demo for the OTC. I had never ridden in a cat. Smoooothaaaaa (considering the sporty conditions out there).

We passed a boat on the way out in a snotty ocean, and heard a hail on the radio. "Showing off eh, Bernie?" He looks over, nods his head in affirmation. He had his hands full showing off. We were airborne some of the time (as were many of the Dogs on the way out). Puffin (I believe) said something like most of us took off like 'scalded cats.' Quite a show to watch.

The pro's and Con's of owning a cat.

1. You only have to let them out once or twice a week although it would be nice to let them every day to streach their legs more often if time allowed.

2. Pretty easy going on the gas.

3. No liter box to change.

4. YOu can put them away wet.

5. They do require grooming after a serving of tuna or salmon.

6. They appreciate a coat of wax once in a while.

7. If you paint their bottoms they slow down just a little

8. Easy to load for travel

9. No hump on their backs

10. They go fast even when it is sporty.

Hope this helps.

Good talking to ya out there off Depoe Fri Rod, hope your ride to Hammond was Fun, & successful.

I don't own a Cat, Have ridden in 2 now, Maverick's 32' Maxcat, & 22' GB at the Newport Turnament Demo Day, Stable & Smoothe is the best way to describe a Cat, Stable, & Smoothe cause the twin Hull's spread out, & equal out the weight, kinda like the difference between a Motorcycle, & a Car, Also Cat's don't require alot of Steering, it was hard to break the habbit of constantly steering like I'm used to in my Boat, the short time I was at the helm. Cabin Space is a down side, however the 22' GB was surprisengly roomy.

C&E uh yeah a bit.

What type of fuel burn rate you talking about and at what speed? Ideal cruising? How does it drift in the wind and swell; straight downhill or sideways? How is it easier to load vs. a V-hull? Do you get a lot of water smacking the hull between the two cat hulls? Thanks.

Backlash, PM Corrirod, he will arrange a Demo ride for you, & probably even Load, & Un-load if you like.

Depending on seas and how hard you push is the answer on the fuel per hour rate.

I usually cruise out there between 20 to 25 mph. At 20 mph it consumes about 9.5 gallons per hour and better if you trim it correctly. At 25 it is around 11 to 12 again depending on seas. When trolling with both engines the burn rate is 2.8 to 3.5 depending on a troll speed of 4 to 7 mph for tuna.

As for a kicker? No kicker needed. The 150 trolls right down for coho. Although I have seen pictures of boats with kicker modifications on the Glacier Bay website. YOu can talk to Rod or Bob about that though.

Only time you hear noise between the hulls is pulling out of the harbor at 4 to 5 knots. When running you may hear a little spray from time to time. Boat drives like a car. Leans right on a left turn or vise-versa. Takes a little to get use to that.

Drifts side to the wind.

Trailer bunk is designed to guide the boat right up onto the bunks. It's that easy.

But did Bernie catch as many fish as we did....NO....NO....NO!If I didn"t know Bernie I wouldn"t have said this:smile: !!!

Ray, you caught more and bigger fish. I will give that to ya. We had a sick crew member so we cut her short and went back in on a nice leasurly ride at about 23 to 25 mph. I did have Odin blow by me on the way back in thought. He was in a big hurry.

Oh and we don't need back surgery. How about you? Or your crew?

Yes I am pretty sore from that pounding Sat and yes I had a first time crew member that got me... yes me feeling pretty lousy after watching him but at least he didn"t let it all go on my rain gear.I"m still trying to think of who that was that said that on the radio.Thought it was pretty funny.Bernie you have one nice boat and yes I have had the pleasure of riding in a cat and maybe next year I just might be thinking of one.Still looking though.

Lots of nice boats out there bro. So many boats, so little money. Now the "Bad Fish", is my kind of boat. 67 foot of pure meaness on the ocean. He was doing at least 35 knots when he pulled away from me. He's fast but it did not cost me a grand to just fire up the engines. Nice boat Sean.

Bernie brings up a good point about the back surgery. One thing that I noticed from the ride on Sat was that I much less fatigued than I usually am after a long trip on many of the other boats I have been on.

I'll be doing more demos over the next couple weeks so give me a ring or PM if you didn't get a chance to make it out this weekend.

Thanks to you guys for coming down for our "play day" ! Glad you enjoyed the ride. And as far as Salty Walty says about less fatigue, he is right on, you can do a couple-three days of "Hard Core off Shore" and still feel like you can walk when you are done. On some of the other fishing platforms it tends to make feel like you went a couple rounds with Mike Tyson. Please keep in mind we are open to demo rides at other times as well just call us to schedule. My number is 503.939.3483 and look forward to sharing what we have to offer in the GlacierBay ride as well as our boats in the StabiCraft line up too. Thanks again to all who came down, and a special thanks to EVERREADY and new co-captain aka "the boss" Take care, AJ@ AMAN MARINE

What's the price range for a 2690 Coastal Runner with twin 150s and a trailer?

I would suggest calling or pm bajabob or corrirod for pricing. It varies with the options you want or need to the point it is "pointless to discuss" here. You cannot go wrong dealing with these folks. And the boat...........speaks for itself.

One thing. If you have to ask it probably is out of your price range. Lets just say they are a bit over 100k depending on what you want in a boat. If you are really serious about it then go for a ride with Rob, Bob or AJ....however, take your checkbook and the wife for approval. I can even tell you who to finance it through if you are interested.

There's a 2680 priced out on their website. Sweet ride.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard..."if you have to ask...." I would be a thousandaire.

There are a ton of boats in the "a bit over 100k range", so it's a tough decision whether to go with a cat with a smaller cabin and smoother ride or a Seasport type boat with a larger cabin and a rockier ride. I think they both get similar mpg???

From what I've heard, the cats cut through larger wind waves more comfortably though...that could create more fishable days.

Have heard that the cat. hull can be a wet ride. Any thruth to that? Also heard they can porpoise pretty bad. Again not trying to start anything but just passing on what I was told. Guess I'll have to get out on one to see for myself.

If you have a center console cat you may get wet. In the 2680 model you stay dry. If you mean wet as in having to run the windshield wipers at times then OKay, its a wet ride.

As for the comment on porpoising pretty bad well this goes without saying. It is all the operator and how he/she trims the boat. Same deal on just about any boat out there. That is what motor trim is all about. One thing for sure though. If you are running in the river at 40mph the motors need to be trimmed the same. Otherwise you will get a side to side roll that can be uncomfortable. Correctly trimmed it is a beautiful ride.

Only thing that really sucks on the GB boats is the Radar arch. The rocket launchers are pretty much useless if you are less than 5'10". That is the big snivel I have. Especially in snotty conditions.

As far as giving yourself more fishing days I would say you are correct. Saturdays OTC for example. I would never have gone out in that slop in my 23' trophy. I would have been really sore. Felt pretty good after coming in on the GB.

Did I tell ya that Bajabob was a great guy? Find out for yourself.

Hi guys, As per the pricing for the 2690 Glacier Bay it would depend on how you want the boat set up. As for the ride you can't compare it to any mono hull they are just that sweet of a ride. Catch and Eat is rght in all his comments about the cats. The little sway you feel is well worth the couple of trips it will take you to adjust to the performance of these boats. It is unlike your natural feeling of a mono with the sway and grab in the turns, these boats have a very flat turning feeling and for people who normally don't feel well out on the pond, these help in that department as well less chumming by far!!! The little amount of water that makes it's way to the windshield is from the boat settling down after crossing over a swell, and it's only usally mist being pushed forward through the tunnel, then wind catches it and the it barely make the windshield. A truly remarkable boat. Please feel free to PM me or call 503.939.3483 for a no-ob "ride&decide" I would be happy to get you or anyone out for the trial. Also EVERREADY form the boad brouhgt the boss down Sunday to Hammond, I saw his post concerning the ride check it out. Thanks Everready and boss for the nice words!Give a call let's go. And about the arch, Samson custom for my boat, rod holders cut the buckets off and put the arch lower with back aft lighting,I'm 6' and get rods out with no issues. This one holds 7 rods could be more but had to start somwhere.Have pic's if you want let me know.

AJ, send me a picture of the Sampson. I really do not care for my folding arch at all. May have to upgrade. Thanks.
