CR tuna run Friday
CR tuna run Friday. Who is running? Cool Cat leaving the dock at 5am weather permiting and back early for the captains meeting. Wanna find tuna and a few butts for the fleet Saturday.
So who is in weather permitting. 2 and 5 prediction right now as of 3pm Tuesday.

C&E if the prediction holds with a decent period Dance Floor will be leaving Hammond probably about the same time, along with a lot of other pre-fishers I'm sure.

Re: CR tuna run Friday
I'm watching the weather too. I'm bit gotta get some more. The wet sand says basically the same as NOAA but the swell is at 6sec. by their guess.
Wait and see. I have really been learning to spell tunabutt- see I've got it!

Re: CR tuna run Friday
If it lays down just another foot or two, I will take housemouse out for tuna on saturday. Since we got our last fish at 18 miles on last saturday, we plan to start there and troll west.

Re: CR tuna run Friday
The water temp at the 46029 bouy is 51.8 degrees. It was in the 60's last saturday so I am thinking the fish in that area have moved on. Anyone look at latest sst and figured out how far they might have to run?

Re: CR tuna run Friday
Noaa say 2 and 4 tomorrow at 7 seconds. A little tight but very fishable. My crew will be at the dock at 5am sharp. Depart by 5:20am for bar look-see and head on out for some tuna and maybe a stop off at the halibut drive through.
Not planning to fill the boat with tuna, just wanna find them for Saturday's festivities. Probably quit the tuna about 11 and head for butts and then head back in at about 1 or so. Short trip but I have to be at the captains meeting.

Re: CR tuna run Friday
Hey catch and eat I would love to run with ya thinking of going out of hammond to search for tuna first then stopping for some hali action on the way in. How far do you think for the tuners tomorrow? My hali spot I fish is about 18 out hoping not to have to run to far from there.

MadMoney is thinking the same... I don't "need" many TUNA.... but a few more fresh ones never hurt!

Re: CR tuna run Friday
Bernie,
AJ and I are running in Chase 'n Tail tommorrow as well. Plan on leaving Hammond at about the same time. Two 26 Glaciers crossing the bar side by side??
Anyway, where are you thinking of running. We have very warm water starting at the 124 21 line, close to 67-68 degrees according to Terrafin. The blue water looks considerably further though, around the 124 50 line. Are you running for concentrations, or looking for some heavy green water hogs?
I think we are tempted to run for the blue water...concentrations of fish and maybe something large...?
Anyway, see you at the dock in the morning...

May plan is this 46.11 (or 12) x 124.50. I have a feeling that the fish will be jumping about the 124.42 line in the green stuff. I plan to run fish traps and head west to about the 124.55 line if necessary. Just looking for about 15 fish and then we head for halibut. planning to fish tuna until about 10:30 or 11 and head for halibut via troll. Gotta be back at the dock by 3:30 to clean up for the captains meeting in astoria.

Re: CR tuna run Friday
Bernie:
Go get 'em!!!!! I'll be cheering for the 'Cool Cat' and crew to bring in the 'mosttess and the biggesty'...... 'Ya gotta be in it to win it' I hope you have a great trip. I'll be dreamin' of the 'Big Blue' and those 'shining mirrors' coming to the surface to take a look and then make a run to the bottom.
However, I have to convince my wife to let me go again , cause, I somehow threw my 'tuna rags' in with her kitchen towels and a pair of her underware:frown::frown:....no kidding. My firiends from California about died laughing.
I'll be praying for "Calm seas and Screamin' Reels", Terry

Re: CR tuna run Friday
Thats sweet that the warmer is at 124.21 I am perfectly content with scratch fishing the green water. Did it at gari last week for a bunch of fish and 20 miles out. I am not sure how far we will go if its pretty nice we may think about it. I am in a 24 marlin so im not as big as you guys either way should be fun, more people huntin em the more people catch em!

Not gonna say you won't get anything there cause sure enough you will. However I think I would venture out a bit further to at least the 37 toward the edge of the break But that's just me.

Thats just where I would start trolling and searching, if nothing to interesting I would at least keep heading out. Better starting at 124 21 than 124 50 was kinda my point and its relatively close to where we fish for butts.
