Re: Hagg reports
I had my first skunk day at hagg ever on sunday
Fished a solid 8 hrs. for quality bass. I blame it on the EARLY waterskiers and full moon. Tried every tactic in the book, I assume they were suspending over deep water after the wake action started up. I was not marking them in the usual spots off of points, humps etc.
The bankies were doing pretty good on trout from what I saw. The big bluegill schools were fairly deep along the dam.
Good Luck,
Aaron

Re: Hagg reports
I found out by accident about the deep bluegill. I was verticle jigging in the fall for bass off of one of the points and kept marking huge schools of "baitfish". Assuming that monster smallies would be feeding under the schools, I lowered a 1/2oz. hopkins spoon and started jigging under the school. I ended up snagging a few bluegill doing that. I grabbed my Ultra lite with a small tube jig on it, and lowered it down. It was a fish on every time I dropped it down. Pretty nice sized gills.
You almost have to have a good Fish finder to fish this way though. The gills will usually be 15 ft down regardless of water depth. They are usually down around the dam and spillway area. The schools move around alot, so you have to keep on them with the electronics. You'll catch bonus trout on the same gear.
Good luck.

Re: Hagg reports
Small tubes work just fine. Try the Firefly feather jigs, I like Black / yellow, the" Bee". My Honey will use anything flashy, go figure. Tip the jig with Crappie nibbles or wax worms. Don't tie the line directly to the jig, use 'Fast Snaps' you'll find them at quality fly shops, not FM, SW or Joes. The Fast Snap will allow the jig to have a completely different motion and entice more bites. Be there when the gate opens, enjoy the peace and quiet. Vote for any squid that will raise the fines for noise polution; it's $25.00 now. Oh boy, big deal, they just spent $60K on the boat and $3K on the sound system, show em your moon, it's priceless.

Re: Hagg reports
Yeah, Plug....The sound systems suck! The Blue wakeboard boat with the "fat sacks" (ballast to make bigger wakes) and blasting old school "Easy-e" with more f-bombs than I care to hear in one day was a bit much. Supprised the marine patrol wasn't all over that? If the wake wasn't bad enough each time around the lake, the consant noise pollution was. Don't get me wrong, I like my tunes and rap as much as anybody, I just don't subject everyone on the lake to it.....
I'm sure the little fly-jigs would work great for the gills. I've done real well on them with the bug rod when they are shallow.

Re: Hagg reports
I was out last Friday with the boat and ski tube, and while idling from Boat ramp C South beach area out to the "Wake" zone, I pinged a few HUGE fish on my finder. Never saw such a huge signal in that lake before. There were several pings of smaller normal looking sizes in the same area, but man these were big. They showed up at about 15 feet down.
