Default Tongue Point

Spent the day fishing with Phunybonz around tongue point on Saturday. 5 shakers and a 43 inch keeper. Pretty slow fishing, talked to a couple of other boats that only caught 3-4 shakers. We fished the deeper water and had the best action in the afternoon on the out going tide using smelt.

With the out going tide and the wind the ride back to the east basin was SLOOOOOOWWWWW.

At least the company was good and Phunybonz got a fish to smoke.

Tony your always welcome on my boat!

Just a little too add to the report. The reason for the high number of boats in the area was due to a derby held in Chinook. The locals claimed to have seen some FAT limits at the check in.
Ya should have seen the grin on Waterdogs face as he drove his sweet new boat into the rough chop. You did a fine job and I felt comfortable and DRY. My buddies in Chinook said they ran into 4-6 ft. rollers under the bridge on thier way to Chinook. They left Tounge Pt. area around 2:30, glad we waited the extra hour. We came back across the bridge around 9 pm and it was flat as a pancake. That place is pretty moody!

Three of us fished Tongue Point today and got our keepers. Nothing over 45, but we're not complaining. We ended up getting 19 to the boat, just to find our 3. From the other reports I heard and saw, it was a slower bite for most. Others seemed to have a better keeper/shaker ratio though.

Anchovies worked well, although smelt did account for several shakers and seemed to keep the bullheads at bay a little better.

Good luck if you get out there, the weather was gorgeous today. Wind and waves had our small craft off the water by 1:00. It was pretty flat until noon or so.
