Coho at 40ft.
Fished out of Garibaldi Friday - 6/29. Joined boats around 180 to 190 ft. north of two rocks. Seas were 4ft swells, 4ft wind waves - got beat up, but fishable. Landed one coho, hooked and lost several more. The bite turned off around 10:00 AM. Boats then spread all over with no action. At about 11:30 we headed toward shore, 32 to 42 ft, between north jetty and twin rocks. Marked a lot of fish, so started trolling. Landed 3 fin clipped and released one native. Very consistent action. State police told us average of one fish per boat, so we did pretty well - 4 fish for 3 anglers. Don't know if wind drove fish near shore or this is where they hang out. Action stayed good until we left at 3:00 PM. Watch out for crab pots inside 30 feet. Was this a fluke or do salmon hang in that area all the time? If so, why is everyone heading way north and way out?
