Default San Anita / Hard Core Garibaldi report.

I was on the boat "Hard Core Fishing" Saturday out of garibaldi, we bagged our share of bulletts and a few Cohos. Great day for fishing. Sorry I was not on the radio more with numbers but we got pretty busy catching, gutting and gilling. We did well about 24 miles out, green water and no surface sign but birds. Lots of albatross though. Then on the way home we lost a wheel on the trailer 20 miles into the mountains, broke the wheel studs off and we were done. So to make a long story short, we transfered fish, took them home and iced them down more, pulled the hub off, chased parts and about 2:30 PM Sunday we finished our trip back to the valley. Still it was all worth having a day like Saturday fishing. That Parker is a sweet fishing machine, Thanks for the ride.

Geez Bill, Barnes e-mailed the story of your adventure this morning. What a mess. You must have been real resourcefull to repair that hub sat. evening and sun.morning.
Sounds like a great fishing trip though.

You know I forgot to post a report from the trip in Barnes's Parker aka: Hard Core from a couple of weeks ago. Nothing like burning out to the grounds at around 32kph. Radio'd some dogstothe bite. Got kinda crowded. Heard the dory fleet was doing good so pulled gear and ran at 40+ mph on a flat ocean( 20 mins ) and fished with Puffin and Nalu. Proceded to plug the boat, filled all 4 coolers then burned back to port.
Whew, can't see how some of these guy's do this 2 and 3 days in a row.
Thanks Barnes and Bill for the operTUNAtiy.

John

Nice weekend Bill!
I wish I had known you were in town over the weekend, I would have found time for a barley pop.

I saw that Parker on the side of the road Sunday and thought to stop, but traffic was heavy and skidding to a halt didn't need to be my next adventure.

Let me know when you're going to be up there next!

Anyone willing to take a first timer tuna fishing? I am willing to help with "All" expenses. Been fishing in Oregon 20 years now, caught almost every species of fish here but "Tuna". Anyone have an open seat send me a personal message and i will be glad to find time. Hoping my salmon rods will work for the Tuna, if not, have much more gear i am sure i can put something together. Been hearing all this talk of tuna and i have to find a way to go this year. Thanks..... Garibaldi preferred but willing to travel if necessary.

The line for crewing is pinned to the top of the board ... post to the "riders" thread and take a number.

Man, Bill, I feel yer pain. I just went through that a week ago, and it ain't fun tryin' to chase parts on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. Luckily I got stopped in a spot where I was off the road and in relatively good shape, but I still spent the night on the boat just to make sure I didn't end up with just a skeleton the next day.

Glad everything worked out for you. Ain't it great to have friends!!!

Thanks dogs, I know this is off the fishing report but Id like to share this as a lessoned learned. Check those bearings, tires and wheels. I doubt that wouldve helped in this case because it seems the trailer is undersized for the boat weight and Shorelander is stepping up to take care of my buddy. He did question them when he purchased the boat and they assured him it would be OK. When we came out of the hills Sunday afternoon we weighed the boat and trailer and it weighted 9100 lbs after burning 70 gallons of fuel, so with a full tank and ice we were over 10,000 lbs. The tires were only good for 2150 lbs max each x 4, so 8600 lbs max capacity. Shorelander says they will provide him with a new bigger trailer and giving 100% $$$ trade in. I think the owner of shorelander was glad the boat was not damaged or any one hurt, he was real anxious to help. Oh yeah when the tire launched we were in traffic, cars passing in the passing lane. Thank goodness it missed them all. More to come from Shorelander.
Check those tires for pressure, lug nuts for tourge and wheel bearings. We all push our trailers to the limit, even the 4000 lb boats with single axles. Do the tire capacity x quanitity math.
