Thumbs up MAVERICK Charter Report, 7/28 Newport, pics

Saturday was an all Ifisher crew aboard Maverick Charters, with Captain Mark, Deckhands Steve and Andy, guests Dan, Tom, Nancy, and myself.

Mark definately knows how to make his customers happy! Pretty much decide what you want to catch, how you want to catch it, how much you want, and he and his deckhands do the rest! Fabulous!

We decided to go trolling for TUNA! and put 45 in the box and decided we had enough. We went back inside and went 2 for 11 on salmon, keeping one King and one Coho, and then running the crab pots Mark put out the day before for a pile of ocean crab.

Talk about a smorgasbord!

The boat has the best ride, and it was a perfect day to take my wife out for her first TUNA! trip. She has now crossed over to the dark side. She pulled handlines, stand up gear, and even a swimbait on a spinning rod. She couldn't stop talking about how much fun she had and how nice everyone was. Way to go crew!

Here's some pic's. (I didn't break out the digi-cam until we got back inside. We were shooting film on the TUNA! grounds.)

Mark (Maverick Maxcat) taking us fishing.

Maverick Charters has my official endorsement as an outstanding premium fishing adventure. Just call Mark. He's a Salty Dog Sponsor. Phone: 541-576-2956

It was a great trip. Thanks for going and Mark, thanks for allowing me to crew.

As always meeting new Ifisher's is a hoot, and riding the Maxcat is a treat. Sunday was sloppy out htere and we only managed 16 fish, but we still had fun.

Three days of tuna fishing for me (day 1 up north with Puffin). I am tired and after work, I get to process fish... there will be the sound of two pressure cookers going all eveing.

I guess I'll wait to call this guy regarding my mortgage. Last I heard he hadn't moved from this spot yet....sheesh, it was only a few fish!!
Glad you all had a great day and a fantastic haul!!

Now, Boatdog, tell me how we're going to add another 8', in-floor fish boxes, etc. to the Cobia....

Mark, thanks a lot, buddy. I'm never going to hear the end of it now.

Kerry,

I hear there is an opening for first Mate on the Cobia and Maverick has a new one........ He's been spoiled.

Man, I am old and soft. Friday I had very little help on deck, 5 customers and we killed 43 and they lost another 20 on the light gear. Mark does long days and I was a whupped puppy by the time we got done witht he chores. Sat was a much saltier crew and lots more help all around, (Heck, Andrew did most of the work) but still an 11.5 hr day. Alwasy a pleasure to be on the deck of such a nice boat and hanging out with Mark and some nice IFishers.

Boatdog, thanks for sharing your wife. :o (He allowed me to pass off a fishtrap hooked fish on a light spin rod to her)

Beautiful boat, sounds like a lot of happy people and a great day fishing.

Thinking the next boat will be a cat. Not sure yet on Glacier Bay or Maxcat. Having the latter is it as fishable as is beautiful and top speed?
What RPM do you push on a regular crusie speed?

How heavy is it and what is OAL?

Special made or bought premaid?

Sorry for all the questions. Theres lots more.

Thanks Mark for the great trip. We put 45 Tuna in the boat and Mark had room for about 50 more. I thinks our minds were willing but our bodies were about worn out, speaking for myself anyway. I also want to thank Steve for allowing me to crash on his couch Friday night, it was nice getting to know you better. Mark is a class act and I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to catch a ton of Tuna. Dinnig with Steve and Mark at one of Newports hot spots was one of the highlights of the weekend Karaoke at it's finest?

And in the middle of that - taking care of his crew and hammering the fish - he still found time to call the Salty Dogs into the bites.

Skipper, you're the REAL STUFF!

Mark's prices seem to vary a lot, depending on a lot of factors. Best to give him a call and ask him directly. There are a few previous posts (use the search function) from this summer that will give you an idea of the various offerings/prices.

I will say that your return on investment is very good. Mark works very hard to please his customers.
