Default Crabbing in Astoria?
Anyone been crabbing in Astoria area lately? I was wondering if the crabs inside the bar are soft yet? I’m heading down on Saturday, and wasn’t sure if I should pack the rings and try for the triple, Salmon, Sturgeon and Crab. [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

The report I heard at Tackle Time last weekend was not a good one for crabs.

Probably many soft shells, but it never hurts to try.

From the reports we have gotten.....lots of female crab and soft shelled. Prime crabbing is usually late August through December.

I thought the molt was in the August/September timeframe? We always get firm crabs at Newport till sometime in August. Are things different up there?
