Unhappy Tuna Charter Sunday

A group of friends and I are scheduled on a Tuna charter out of Newport Sunday. (Newport Bay Marina Store). This trip was rescheduled from last Satuday due to weather. I am not an expert, but from what I can tell, it appears the ocean conditions have a decent chance of deteriorating again Sunday. I am not interesred in a fishless seasick brigade. What do you seasoned tuna fishers think? Is it going to be worth going? The charter office assures me that "everything is going to be great" as they did until I forced the issue last week.

I'd think it would depend on a lot of things. It might be an uncomfortable ride, but the forecast might also improve. It sounds like you have your own comfort level. It stinks to have to reschedule again, but like you said, a "fishless seasick brigade" isn't much fun either. Though from the reports, it likely wouldn't be fishless.

Hoping the weather improves for you. Frustrating, ain't it?

ETA: Sunday's forecast from NOAA has improved since this morning - it did have combined seas of 10, it's down to 7 now with 5 - 10kt winds down from 20 to 25 or so earlier today. Might end up being good after all.

The seas for sunday should not be an issue for a larger charter boat but us sporties will likely be BBQ ing TUNA from Satudays Catch

There will be good catching even in sloppy seas

My first and only charter trip for Tuna was on a day with 10 foot seas.
At first impression, I didn't trust the captain and thought he just wanted my money. However once we got to the spot(52 miles), we caught fish
and it didn't take long, we ended up with 22.
Only because people(my self included) just didn't have the stamina to fight a fish in large waves. Looking back on it, the day wasn't that bad, there was maybe 20 seconds between the swells, but it was still rough for us salty pups.

Looking at the NOAA forecast, sunday doesn't look that bad, and from the latest reports, you shouldn't have go out as far.

Your experience is an excellent example of the difference between a larger outfit and a smaller, more personal charter like Nalu. Our trip out of Depoe Bay was canceled last Saturday also, but Mike was kind enough to meet with me and answer some questions for me. Definitely a class act, I'd highly reccomend him!
