Default Sunday at the Fishery

The shad are not in strong yet; maybe two fish per hour. But for those that have them, the peelers are hammering them hard and fast.
I was only there a few hours, nailed two peelers, and saw just about every boat with a fish on at some point. A non computer owning fried of mine was there yesterday and boated eight! I also tried salmon carcases and smelt...nothing. Shad is the ticket and they are thick on the Wilammette right now from the Clakamas up to the falls, just below the falls being by far the best (if you can deal with the smell).

My boat is 4.0 and fully fueled, and I have plenty of 10-o nylon leaders and sliders tied and ready to go, and the freezer is full of shad, ...but my tow rig is ailing. Anyone with a decent tow vehicle who would like to get some sore arms, email me....I have the time this week and weekday pressure is minimal. Keepers are also readily available above and below the fishery.

I am curious, ....if your tow vehicle is out of commission and you need a ride to get your boat to the river. How did you come about shad fishing by yourself on Monday on the Willamette when you had your confrontational event with the bankies?

I am sure there are several explanations A buddy let you borrow his tow rig on Monday but cannot spare it in the future, You have Willamette river frontage property and keep your boat docked, others,

Not trying to be confrontational, just curious how you got the boat to the river? I had a buddy fishing the stretch above the Clackamas from the bank Monday till dark, and he said he didnt see any such events happening.

Where have you been ... the shad run is just about over and people have been hammering the oversize for almost 2 months.

Did anyone get out this weekend? Windy? Choppy? Steelhead or gators?

Yesterdays shad count at Bonnevile: 3,000.
One week ago: 14,000
One month ago: dunno, but about 70,000 I think.
Stick it with a fork.
