Thumbs up Personal Locator Beacon, Kudo's to KUJO!

I wanted to tell you Dogs what an enjoyable purchase I had with USIA and CAPT KUJO!

I emailed him with my questions, he responded immediately, I sent him a check, and a couple days later (maybe 3-5) I have my new PLB with GPS!

They kept me informed, and shipping was very reasonable. So 'Good Job' to all of you that made this happen!

One of the main reasons I chose McMurdo FastFind PLUS (PLUS = w/GPS) was because it had a free battery replacement offer. What that boiled down to for me was a unit that over the next 10-years will cost me about $50 a year. That's a lot of safety for so little money. Thanks again Kim!

Can you tell what me he didn't send me in the pic above? I think that should be a giveaway item.

The external antenna deploys when you remove the red safety cover prior to activating the unit. It would be a real pain to carry it with the antenna deployed all the time.

The cost is $525, with a free battery after the original one meets it's expiration date.

Both Capt. Kujo and Mr. Fisherman have gotten us some great prices on PLB's I ended up with one of the ACR units and the price is fantastic. If you are interested in the ACR, contact Mr. Fisherman on the deal he has setup for us.

That ditch bag was an investment I hope to never use.

ACR has a very nice unit also. For comparison, what's the price of the ACR's via Mr. Fishermans deal? I think I remember $500 or $510.

I need a new ditch bag, too.

I just bought an ACR Aquafix with onboard GPS for edit: "An Amazing Price" plus shipping. I look foreward to not having to use it. Now I need to find a PFD that will hold my PLB, GPS, radio, strobe, some flares, and a streamer. It would be nice to have all of that in a tactical load bearing style vest. Something I could clip to my T-top so it's quick to grab in an emergency or wear if the conditions are bad.

Question Re: Personal Locator Beacon, Kudo's to KUJO!

That's a great price ! ! !

I really liked the ACR demo at the SD convention. Wanted one right then. But I had to shop around to ease my mind on a significant purchase. The free battery was the deal breaker for me. I heard they run between $100-$200 to replace, but I don't have an ounce of proof. I emailed McMurdo yesterday, and am still waiting for a price. Do you know what the ACR replacement battery cost? And at what schedule (time=5yrs? 10 yrs?) I only ask because that was a long term price-point consideration factor for me.:lurk:

5 yr battery life. You have to send your coupon in at least 1 month before your battery's expiration date.

The McMurdo has to be "postmarked within 60 days of initial battery expiration date" to be valid. The offer I rec'd is good for purchases 1/1/07-12/31/07.

Folks we can not openly talk about the price of the ACR - I've asked to have the $$ removed. PLEASE honor the Mfg request and the deal that Mr. Fisherman has set up and contact him for the link - it is that IMPORTANT. If you have to know the PX - please use a PM

Black helicopters aside....

Could you post the price without naming the supplier or any contact info?

Why all the secrecy???

Because it is a special price that is not available to the general public. Just send a PM and get the info you need.

I think its perfectly fine that the price is displayed. Having these kinds of 'hidden' deals is silly. If any ifisher can get it for this price, then having it posted is a good idea.

Think of it this way guys.

Someone from this board got in contact with the MANUFACTURER of a product and convinced them to sell that product to us at a substantial discount. This price may be even cheaper or equal to what the MANUFACTURER is charging local DEALERS in this area that also sell the MANUFACTURER'S product.

If you were a DEALER and found out that the MANUFACTURER was actively undercutting you in you own area and direclty selling his product to your potential customers, why would you do business with that MANUFACTURER anymore?

In this case it sounds like the MANUFACTURER thought that he was doing the dogs a favor and part of the agreement is that the "special price to the dogs" is not made public. In that case, it would seem wise to repsect their request.

I will edit the price if it will somehow upset the manufacturer and sour their feelings about the Salty Dogs. However this deal was NOT from Mr.Fisherman or any other Salty Dog. It has been advertised for sale on a major marine electronics website for almost a year. I finally pulled the trigger, since I have been doing a lot more Tuna trips. If anyone wants one of these for its super secret sub $500 price, let me know and ill point you in the right direction.
