Default Sad end of an icon

They have announced the end of the printed and online versions of the Weekly World News. No more Bat Boy adventures... no more space alien photo-ops... no more vampire kitten discoveries...

I will miss the good times. They took journalism to the edge--and beyond! Each issue covered stories that other newspapers are afraid to touch.

Dang! Hopefully our local paper will pick up Ed Anger's column...

Bat Boy rocks!

Life will never be the same without weekly/monthly reports/updates on the Dog Faced Boy.

Say it isn't so! I am so depressed!! The Weekly World News wasn't just a trashy tabloid, it was the cutting edge of alternative literature. Who can forget the lurid prose, the in-depth interviews (Elvis at his fried chicken stand in Barstow; Elvis at his 7-11 in Fargo),the incredible photos, (The Pope With Angel's Wings), and the astounding scientific revelations, (Man Bitten By Chicken Grows Feathers!).

A thousand years from now anthropologists will look at archived copies of WWN and ask, "Were they ALL crazy?"

Now we are going to have to settle for the real news. Fortunately, it's just as bizarre, but not quite as believeable.

I've always felt they employed some of the best writers in America.
