No 2007 Elk for Norm
Well, I just sold my house in Aloha and bought a place in Kalispell Montana. Since I didn't apply for a non-resident elk/deer combo, about the only tag I can get in MT is a non-resident whitetail doe permit. I will be shy of the six month residency requirements to get any other tags this season. Since I'm moving in early August I'll be a non-resident in Oregon also . So I guess I will have no resident options for tags this year.
On the plus side I'll be able to put in for some cool tags next year . I also spotted a couple of nice bucks on the neighbors property, so all I need is a hot tub with a bow rack and plant some deer forage next to the house. I'll call it, the hot tub of death .
I'll also be putting in my own 3D archery course .

Nice lookin' place. I'm curious though. Why are you not considered an Oregon resident for this year, or did you only live in Aloha for a short time?

Re: No 2007 Elk for Norm
I've lived in Oregon all my life, but I'll have a MT driver license by the time archery season opens. I'm guessing if I get checked I'll have a problem with MT ID and a resident Oregon license . It's kind of strange not being a legal resident of any state for the purpose of a hunting tag. I could probably buy resident tags in either state, but the chance of getting caught wouldn't be worth it.

Re: No 2007 Elk for Norm
I think you're still o.k. for Oregon as you obviously have filled the 6 mos residency requirements. I would make copies of your "old" drivers license and a couple of other documents that show you are/were a resident in Oregon this year. If you are checked, then it will easily explain the Montana license. Legally you were a resident in Oregon, so you should still have the right to buy resident tags for this state. I would also purchase them BEFORE you switch drivers licenses.

Nice view there Norm - I am Jealous!
I would just call ODFW licensing division to get a clarification of your status. Buying your tags now and copying your ODL sounds like good advice too.

Re: No 2007 Elk for Norm
my uncle had the same situation when he moved to washignton, he hunted in oregon and everything was ok. He called ODFW and they told him he could legally hunt in oregon only for tags he bought or drew before he moved.

Interesting, I might call and check with ODFW. Although the eight hour drive will be a killer.

Right on! Can I be your new best friend? I grew up down in Frenchtown and have family there. Great country-tough winters.
