FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
Shane ('Stew) and I fished the Cowlitz with Jeff (Jeffhead) and Mike (HEY_YALL) on Friday and Jeff came up with a great idea for Floatilla III (jk about the nerd part - well kinda ). This is from the Cowlitz Summer-runs thread:
The 4 of us talked about the Cowlitz being a good candidate for Floatilla III (or IV if there is a mid-summer one). Jeff suggested a Saturday in the second half of September (and maybe also have an overnighter for Sunday too for those that want to fish 2 days). People will be back from vacations with the kids back in school, yet the weather is still fairly nice thru Sept. The big Cowlitz, with it's reservoirs, will have enough flow for the driftboat runs and the sleds should be able to go too. The river should have lots of fresh bright coho salmon and also some of the later arriving summer steelhead. He suggested meeting at the long gravel launch bar near Castle Rock to fish near the mouth of the Toutle and on down the river aways. I think that's great Jeff! I will put up a separate thread about this for getting feedback. Thanks. ...
Since this is Jeff's idea, and he and 'Yall know the Cowlitz well, I nominate Jeff for event organizer and 'Yall for head of the activity committee . Give them some feedback here and you 2 let us know the particulars as the time approaches (Sept 22nd? Or 15th or 29th?). ...
Yeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaw!

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
Sounds good to me. I'm up for a float on the Cow. Hopefully I'll have my new frame from Os by then.
Hmmmmm, a floatilla in the summer eh? Maybe a cataraft excursion down Grays Harbor rivers? Good summerrun rivers too low for driftboats. Might be a possiblity. Just an idea.
Just count me in.....

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
Revenge of the nerds sounds great. I would enjoy a trip down the Cow with some folks who could show me the way. It would be fun to learn a new river and take out my Drift Boat. The only thing is that your date is prime bugle time so I can't commit yet.

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
Any of those dates are good for me. I'll bring my sled and offer a couple of seats for anyone that would like to go.

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
I'll plan on being there, either as a member of Team Vision or Team Spud.
Turn out might be low if we get some water in early October. I know a lot of us will be fishing for the nooks on the Hump/Nooch in October.
It will probably be another one of those "wait and see" type deals for me. If it's anything like in years past, early October is a little dry and should be ok.
ObFishingTip: Don't leave fish to find fish.

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
The first weekend in October should be a go for the "Fish4Fun" team too. Don't forget that October 13th is the deer opener in Washington so there might be quite a few of us that don't fish that weekend.

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
The Oct. 6th date appears to be the ticket. We can keep #III flexable as per river fished. It's on the Cow (the river 'Yall!) if fish and water conditions are right, whcih is likely. If the Satsop or other river has gotten rain and the 'nooks are flyin and the Cow isn't 'now', then we can be flexiable and change a few days before the event? Whatchyallthink? Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
Thanks for the additional duties as assigned Rt. As for the date the 22nd of September, the 6th or 13th of October are the options for me if I am going to coordinate the fishing festivities. I have a prior commitment on the 29th (Tickets to the Mariners). Any of these days would be good with plenty of Toutle and Cowlitz silvers filling the lower Cow. The best action at that time of year is from just above where the Toutle drops into the Cow down to the gravel bar launch at Camelot. I would say that we get as many sledheads to volunteer to take guests as this is really not a good stretch for driftboats. As for the amount of people on the river SZ, it is big enough to handle the pressure. Feedback from the masses on either which day is best would be appreciated!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Maybe we can get a few "JetHeads" to quit posting on the North River thread long enough to take a few of us fishing.....
"Revenge of the Nerds".......Is that because RT and Stew are going .....Os

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
I know it's plenty big enough for the pressure.I was just talkin the sled factor. Not much of a drift boat or cat trip.
Plus all the guide boats.Good luck,
STRIKE ZONE
Would love to participate in a floatilla event some time, but will most likely sit this one out.

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
The 6th sounds likie a great date!!! We'll just have to watch the weather and go from there as we get closer. Looking forward to meeting some more guys from the boards and to fish with new old friends too!!!

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
I'm pretty sure that the 6th is also the opener for waterfowl, in Oregon anyways. Sorry guys, but I think you know what I'll be doing. Time to limit out on mallards, woodies and maybe pick up a nice salmon. My float should be excellent for both the coho and the ducks. Might have an extra seat or else one or two other boats could float w/ us. If you can find me you can go, but keep it on the DL. This river's a zipperlip (yeah right)

BH:
I'll probably see you quite a bit up there this fall. That is only if the silvers bite alot better than they did this past fall.
I am looking forward to the Cow trip. Hopefully the limit will be up to four or six fish by then!

C-N-Duck
The trip on the "Cow" should be a good time, especially for the bigger inboard sled. If it is like last year we should have a ton of silvers

Re: FLOATILLA III - (Revenge of the Nerds?)
Outlaw - the river is flowing at 2550+/- right now and it doesn't look like the water level will raise much by October, so the big inboard may not be the way to go. If the water level gets raised by then, it will be around 4,000 cfs. I don't see it back at 8,000cfs like it usually is that time of year.
