Default Odell Surf and Turf 7-19/21

Just getting back from a nice weekend over at ODell. Found a great spot at Trapper Creek campground. Pulled in Thursday afternoon, set up camp and hit the lake for a little evening action. Was only able to scratch up a few that evening but was able to come up with an attack plan for friday!!! Well of course friday morning came a little too early so we slept in a little, made some coffee and hit the lake at o'dark 8:30am We were marking lots of fish in the 60-80ft range. Now came the task of figuring out how I was going to get my offering to that range. Lets re-cap. No down rigger, no line counting reels, no problem right? We'll actually I was able to figure out just how much line to let out with the amount of lead I was using at my trolling speed Yes, so easy even a cave man can do it Ok so now were in the zone. Havin a good time but remebered we needed a couple things I had forgot so we pulled out a little early on friday and made a quick run to cresent. Went back out for a little while in the evening and called it a day. Saturday was our MISSION day. Premade some recently caught canned TUNA sandwiches along with the appropriate beverages Hit the water at 5:30am and was ready for action. I had made the decision that I was going to just troll from Trapper creek all the way to the lodge and if we caught fish we caught fish, if we didnt then we didnt. Well We caught fish. Had a great day saturday, not exactally a banger 40 or 50 fish day but we were able to scratch out 26 for the day. Weather for friday was mainly overcast jeans and jacket all day. Saturday was a little overcast but broke open late in the afternoon and of course this morning was blue sky and warm but we were done with our trip and packin for home. All in all it was a great weekend and good to get away in this beautiful state. Ohhhh and yes, we took along the crawdad trap. Dropped mainly over by the slide on the lake. Simply looked for downed timper or rocky areas. In a day and a half we had enough for a feast.

Rainshine,

Nice report and pictures. I always wanted to know what it was like to fish there in late July. A work thing keeps me from going, well at lease for another year or so!!

So now at least we know what those "summer" kokes look like, Aufish!

Nice job on the kokes and crawdads, rainshine...and thank you for the report and pics. You set a great dinner table too.

We were using ford fenders with red and green wedding rings tipped with white corn that I had soaking in Tuna Oil. Not sure how much of a difference that made but I've always soaked my corn in oil while Kok fishin! Good luck if you guys get out
