Default Bayocean Dike Rd?

I'm always interested in fishing new locations, preferably ones that don't have a lot of other people frequenting it as well. It was with this in mind that I've been eying the south jetty of Tillamook bay and just how remote it sounds with Barocean Dike Rd ending just a little past Cape Meares Lake.

Now what surprised me is that all the major mapping web pages seem to indicate that the road goes all the way to the jetty. Has it been extended lately or is it still the ~3 mile hike? Also I want to fish some of the bay side of the peninsula along the way, is there any private property I need to be concerned with?

I guess the last problem is going to be a matter of scheduling the time to get out there and fish.

Bayocean spit is a 3 mile ride or walk by bike from the parking lot. you can get right out on the jetty. Cant take a car or motor vehicle.

Fished it many times from the late 70's thru the early 90's, you can Walk thru the sand/mud East of the parking lot(End of road)to get your Sand Shrimp, or on a minus tide walk out 3/4 mile to the Sturgeon spot(Mud Shrimp can had on the Mud flats), Bike or Walk 3mi like said above to the Jetty, than skip the Jetty rocks out starting about Half way for Lingcod, Black Rockfish, on the incomming tide thru High tide, Cabezone, Greenling, & Perch can be caught also, as well as some Flounder(mostly on the surf side, or in the Bay),& Salmon too at times mostly in the Fall, + on a "El Nino" year some hugh Skate have been caught. Low or outgoing tide is sometimes better for Perch, & Greenling even further in the Bay. There is a good spot for Sand Shrimp about half way out the Road just past the first set of Curves. Be Careful out there Slippery rocks from Salt water, Bird Droppings, & Seaaker Waves could ruin your day. If you have a Boat you can motor inside Crab Harbor past the little finger Jetty, & Camp there, just make sure you time the tide(s) so you not stuck high & dry. We actually started fishing the South Jetty Via Canoe from Barview Jetty Park, but that can be dangerous. Good Luck!

Bring felt sole wading shoes. If it rains the blue-green algea will make the jetty into something damn near impossible to stand up on, let alone walk on. I spent 3 hours one day crawling back to the beach in the rain.

The road is still there .. you hike on the road.

worth paying attention to, it's great to go cuz the south side is isolated, but if you're by yourself and you fall help isn't close....

Barview has the coastguard tower right there... Newport has a lot of traffic.... In this spot you are isolated and likely will be all alone.
Plan accordingly and let someone know where you are going and when you plan to be back and stick to it.
