My "welcome home" steelhead. :)
A nice little hen came to greet my pink corky this afternoon.
I was fishing with a pink corkie and just a touch of an old rotten sand shrimp left over from what Bill bought, three days ago.
It hit at the tailout, did a couple nice acrobatics for me, right at my feet, and then came in to Momma.
Now... At the show, Depoe Bay Dan made this wonderful steelhead with Mayo and mustard and brought it by a bunch of the ifish booths. It was so good, and I want more! It was good even cold!
He's probably still at the show, but does anyone else know how to do that?
If not, I'm just going to mix mayo and mustard and put a little dill on top. Is that it?
Jen

Re: My "welcome home" steelhead. :)
No! That was a misprint! I would never! I mean, er... I didn't mean to, I uh...
Oh crud.
Yes, I did.
:depressed:
I killed it good, too. BONK BONK BONK! Then I ripped out the gills and bled it, and then I kicked it up on the shore.
THERE!
OK?

Good for you, Jennie. You earned it.
I tried your lovely river this morning. The water looked great, so clear I felt I could see every fish in it. I caught every fish I saw, but I didn't see any fish.
But it is a lovely river.

Re: My "welcome home" steelhead. :)
Tillamook Chinook, LOL! That was funny!
BONK BONK BONK... Don't I sound like the feminine one?!?
It was funny. I am really sore from the show, so I didn't feel like going upriver with Bill. He drove up the other side in search of a biter.
I said, "Nah. I might stumble around back for a little while..."
He came home, and I said, "Mind fileting my fish for me while you do yours?"
LOL... He had none. The grass is not always greener, nor the fish always further away!

Jennie,
Glad to see you made it back from the show and still had the get up and go to get up and go catch a steelie.
It was nice finally meeting you. Thanks for doing the ifish kwikfish, I realize it was probably alot of work. Meeting you and and getting that kwikie made the show for me.
Thanks!
Rick

Re: My "welcome home" steelhead. :)
Spinner 53, remember Jennies a woman. Not saying she's wimpy, I would never even allude to that, but she may have needed to go BONK, BONK, BONK,. Remember, they don't call them steelhead for nothing.
Jennie, great job on the steelie. Now, If Depoe Bay Dan, formerly that is, gets back from the show early enough, I promoised him a chance to get a steelie on my favorite winter steelie water. Then he can show me how to cook it up like that. He called me last night from the show and said it was a hit. Glad you liked it.
And, sure was nice seeing you again and picking up the Ifish Kwikie. I can't bring myself to take it out of the package, it may become a Christmas ornament this next year.

Jennie, it also had sautéed onions. Yummy it was good.
PS. I never did find the lady doing the names.

Re: My "welcome home" steelhead. :)
Jennie, when you cook the filets, do them on the bar-b-que with alder chips. Then when you make the steelhead mix it'll be much better. A bit of mayo, a dab of mustard, 1/4 to 1/2 lemon per half a fish, dill, fresh ground pepper and some salt to taste.

Re: My "welcome home" steelhead. :)
Yes it had dill and is a good way to do salmon also.
Mark, it was a great pleasure meeting you (finally!!!) and we will get together soon and catch some fish!
I'll post the recipe later today.
It's simple and a tasty change to eating salmonids.
STG, it was great seeing you once again and yes it had onions but not saulteed.
Just simply baked with the rest of the stuff.
Dan
