Tuna Monday 7-23???Anyone???
How does Monday look for Tuna out of Depot Bay on the 23rd???
Anyone think that is doable??
need to restock all of the Canned Tuna I have been giving away.. Wife decided that it is really good and wants more....
I would love to hear any feedback about how the weather will be.... We have turned back the last two times we were scheduled to go....

Re: Tuna Monday 7-23???Anyone???
It looks a little iffy to me. Might be okay, but might end up just being a nice drive over to the coast and back. I'm gonna watch it, but right now I doubt I'll play.
At least we get a chance to can, clean, purchase, and prepare. I'm gonna retie some of my Zuk leaders today, and maybe make up a few more halibut rigs.

Re: Tuna Monday 7-23???Anyone???
So Skein and everyone else,
When is the best day this next week...
I have been shut down twice and want to go on a good day... so I can play...
So my question to everyone is???? When is the best day to plan a trip for this next week... any day but Thursday the 26th is fine... and don't tell me that is the only day that will be good... that is just wrong... it is my tenth anniversary and I would be carked just like a Tuna if I choose to go fishing rather then spend time with my wife....
Thanks in advance for your input...
Mark

Re: Tuna Monday 7-23???Anyone???
According to Wetsand, Monday looks to be the best shot for a while. The only thing that troubles me about Monday is that it seems to be a transition day with the winds changing fairly dramatically between Sun and Tues. As Skein indicated, it's kind of a crap shoot at this point. It could be pretty nice, or really confused - all depends on the port too - looks like it could be a tad better to the north. If I was going Monday, I'd go out of Garibaldi and head in a WSW direction - hoping to run in with the wind. But that's just me. Looks like the rest of the week is a blow-out for most of us.

Re: Tuna Monday 7-23???Anyone???
The forecast for Monday just got worse. (Sat at 3 pm). both the NWS and wetsand show 7 ft swell for Monday. If it actually happpened the way it's forecast, the light sw winds in the morning and the nw winds in the afternoon would help for a trip out of newport. But 7 ft swells usually mean slow going for my boat. and sometimes the CG says no go with 7 ft swells.

The forecast for Monday just got better, If you fish the forecast you'll never fish...unless the forecast is good. Still Mon. is a proving to be a tough day to fill, I don't know if everybody is gone this weekend or what, but nobody has gotton back to me yet.

Well is anybody going? S. wind 5kts 1 & 7 @ 8sec is not bad, & I think it will be even better, since the Swell is already down to 6.9'

Re: Tuna Monday 7-23???Anyone???
I hope you have an experienced captain with you chrome obsession, it is different crossing that bar with someone that has versus on your own. Have you taken any boating classes to help you learn to navigate? The Columbia bar is nothing to mess with and looking at the forecast, 7' swell is pretty big in the boat you have, I wouldn't go personally. There are tons more fishing days ahead so why risk it.
