Default Report For Wednesday GB TUNA Trip

1st and foremost a huge thank you to Dick (TUNA TIME) for turning around and coming back out to find us after he could not raise us on the VHF
The Capt Accidently turned the volume down and we did not hear the hails, (And Dick I apologize for the Capt using my name to call you
This was a trip that I was a Teacher with a poor student)
Once he saw we were ok and trolling towards port he took off in his beautiful boat

That is when it started to really blow and get nasty
I did not like being in those kind of conditions not one bit and liked it even less that I was not behind the wheel
I realized that I must scare some people when things get tough out there
I was never scared yesterday but I sure was on high alert
I felt the Capt was running to fast in those bad seas
Before I went with him I had asked about his electronics ETC
I felt comfortable because he has a simular unit to mine with all the same controls, what I did not know was that he had no waypoints and no chip
Every bit of my experience with the Lowrance paid off and I even learned a few things
i actually called Capt Al Barney to get Lat Long #s for the entrance because the slug trail had disappeared leaving us with no track to follow back in

We did manage to get 6 TUNA each and got very wet for our efforts

Then my cell phone lets me know I have messages
Corirod
Chromaflage
Mold Mike
Thanks guys for your concern it is appreciated and thanks to Ted Stickfish for posting as he was the only one I could reach

Today I am truely honored to be a SALTY DOG
You guys Truely ROCK!!!!

Glad you got back and got fish too! It did get bit bumpy out there yesterday for sure, certainly not what was forecast huh?. Not sure what craft you had a ride on. But I know I would not have wanted to have been where we were in my own boat yesterday.

Hank, just glad you made it back safely. We were relieved to hear that you made it back to the barn without incident.

BTW could you describe what sea conditions you had to deal with?
A safe return with fish is a good one.

By the time we were 15 miles from port the wind waves were 3 to 4 foot with 6 to 7 foot swells but seemed bigger in the 22 ft boat
very nasty water producing a pucker factor of 8.5 on a 10 scale
was not any fun

When Dick says "it is nasty out here" and he's in the Grady...you know it is real bad...22' boat must have given you quite the ride!
