I have a 257 weatherby that I have shot sence the 70,s and I am impressed. about 2 years ago I got over 100 rounds of Norma brass off of ebay and I loaded it up they will last a while, it save me big bucks in weatherby ammo. You will like the Weatherby, now I am not at all prejudice against other Rifles, I have owned 270, 06, 243, 7mm mauser,
7mm rem mag ,308 norma mag, 308 winchester, they are all good rifles but for some reason the 257 weatherby just stuck to me.

FireCat -What did you think about the .308 Norma Mag? I have one that was handed down to me. I actually enjoyed shooting it until I went to buy factory ammo. Prices around town ranged between 65 to 80 bucks, even the Norma Brass alone is spendy.

ORsouthpaw....I bought my 308 Norma mag at Larrys sporting goods years ago it was in the Used Gun rack it had a custom stock on it, a very nice custom stock, the only thing I didnt like was it was a "blonde" stock So i got it for 300.00 Took it over to a place out of Oregon City called Enstead and douglas Gunsmiths and he had a beautiful Black walnut stock that fit it perfect that someone gave him for a trade on some gunsmithing work. I killed a spike bull down by seaside one season and a 3x4 Mule deer in the steens , I then traded it and a ruger 270 that i owned for a 257 Weatherby that was at Andy & bax in Portland . I hand loaded for it . It was a very nice shooting Rifle . But do to gun writers pushing the 300 winchester mag and the 7mm mag it kinda fell by the wayside , and yes it is hard to find ammo for it unless you get alot of Norma brass somewhere for a good price. Personally I would keep the gun if it was a hand me down.
I know some collectors that will buy it because of the fact they are hard to come by. if in great shape I would watch ebay you can find some brass
at good priced many times try to get "unfired" if at all possiable.

Here is a web sight , if you dont reload, that will reload for you with the bullit you desire, just a suggestion:

Thanks FireCat! I actually have about 100 rounds of brass that were also given to me, I may check into sending some of it in to have it reloaded. It's funny you say yours had a blond stock. Mine also has a light colored stock I believe it's maplewood. Anyway I hauled it out to the gun show once and had a guy offer me 900.00 for it, even with the old Banner scope on it. I passed as I just wasn't ready to give it up yet. Not sure that I shouldn't taken the offer though since it just sits in the safe now.
