Default Boat Time Out

Looks like we are not having the usual flat ocean this weekend. And since it is a south blow I am not even mildly hopeful.

Maybe take some time and look your boat over. If you run hard like I do she could probably use some TLC.

Just for an example .. I had some issues with a worn out distributor this last weekend. I got that changed out last night. While I was there I twisted the oil pressure sender out of the way to get the wrench on the distributor fork bolt.

[b]And it snapped off!!!!{/b]

The little extension tube that spaces it up off the block was cracked through the threads. All I did was turn the sender on it's threads and it broke clean off. Now I had some signs of this for the last week or so.

1) Oil in the bilge .. I dismissed this as a valve cover gasket.

2) A trail of oil from the back of the port head .. yep definitely the valve cover leaking.

2) A little waver in the oil pressure reading at idle.

If this had failed at sea I would have shut down the motor and been a tow for the coast guard. So tonight I am buying some batteries for the flashlight and spending some time in the engine room looking things over real close.

Trailers need attention too. My brakes are sticking when I park.

Default Re: Boat Time Out

Fortunately, my boat is in good working order, so this weekend will be cleaning and tying new gear up for when the water lays down again. I also might spend a little time in the woods looking at the elk hunting areas.
