Controlled Hunt results available today
Just thought I would let folks know that the results of the controlled hunts are available on the fish and wildlife web page. It might take you hitting the submit button a few times but it will work eventually.

Re: Controlled Hunt results available today
Yeah, try hitting the refreh button about 30 times, that's about what it took me. Got my eastern Oregon deer tag three years running, can you believe my luck.
I was sure I wouldn't get it this year and was already making silver fishing plans, maybe next year.

Re: Controlled Hunt results available today
Hey SureSet,
Don't feel bad. I got skunked on my tags this years too. I will have three preference points for next years elk tag. Our party had a stretch where we drew hair tags five out of seven years, so I guess I can't complain too much.
I think I will go fishing rather that waste my time on a spike only hunt. I hate those hunts. I always see nice branched bulls and can't kill them.

Hey SureSet I think I might have mistakenly typed in you number instead of mine.
Buck Deer-Sorry.
Elk-Sorry.
Antelope-Sorry.
Antlerless Deer-Sorry.
Additional Deer-Sorry.
Clearing House Sweepstakes-Sorry.
"Quality Time" with wife-Sorry, you were successful.
I'm not sure, but I don't think I even drew my Salmon/Steelhead tag this year...

Re: Controlled Hunt results available today
I put in for a Ukiah cow elk tag just because I had some preference points and didn't think I'd draw it - well, I did. I'm kind of in a quandry - I'm not sure I want to kill a cow elk.
I'll hunt Roosevelt bulls in Western Washington - 3 pt. or better. Maybe if I don't get a bull I'll feel better about putting some cow meat in the freezer.
Antelope - nope (11 yrs running)
Buck deer - nope
Antlerless deer - nope
I think I'll go to Cabo instead and hunt (and release) striped marlin.

All with no points!
How do I do this 3 years in a row?
Thanks for the reminder Grits.
Sorry to those of you that failed, I know it sucks.

Saddle Mountain, Second Season, 3 point Bulls!
Not really a lucky draw, though. It's usually undersubscribed. Crawlin' and fallin' through the soggy coast range underbrush for Trophy Bulls! Where the men are men and.....well, and, well,.... I'm usually sitting in the car drinking coffee!

Re: Controlled Hunt results available today
Last year we drew "hair" tags for the Starkey Unit and accomplished what we thought was impossible! We were skunked with 4 tags!!! Ouch!!!!!
With all our preference points gone for this year, we accomplished what we thought was impossible again, we drew another 4 hair tags for the Starkey Unit!!!
Honest! We don't have any relatives working at the Fish & Game! Time to buy a lottery ticket!

Hogtide:
You have got to love that humpin and crawlin in the muck hunting the North Coast. I remember the time we were crawling under 50 yards of windfalls, thirty minutes before dusk, asking my wife if she liked being in the army. I can't post the answer. You hunt here and everthing else is cake.
Thanks for the Weatherby info, I owe you a fishin trip. If interested email me at mht@hlb.com .

Re: Controlled Hunt results available today
Holy Moly!! After 6 years of trying, finally drew the Mill Creek Watershed Elk tag!! Lots of elk...patrolled area year-round, NO access except during elk season. One problem, no roads, just walking or animals....and I don't have any horses. Oh, good excuse for a little (lot) excercise!!
Also, Stott Mt. antlerless deer tag.

Re: Controlled Hunt results available today
WOW, 19 posts regarding the ODFW and not one ****** off person. Gotta be a record. Even those who did not draw.
Interesting though that all of the posts have to do with hunting.....
Food for thought.

Received postcard in the mail same day as results available on net,go figure. Hunted last year so was just buying points for murderer's creek. Would prefer to fish so no big deal, tired of playing ODFW games,I'm no native Oregonian but I remember when hunting and fishing was a whole different ballgame.

NorRivDav I hate you. No really really hate you. I finally after three years of waiting drew my Silvies Deer and Elk yahoooooooooo.
Actually hate is just another word for jealously. Good luck on your hunts everybody. Anyone who drew the Silvies unit give me a yell maybe we can drink some type of cool beverages after the days hunt.

Re: Controlled Hunt results available today
I drew;
Saddle Mountain 3+ bull, second hunt.
Saddle Mountain Anterless deer.
Plus I'll get a buck tag.
My son was unsuccessful so it looks like he will be hunting our frontyard (Scappose Unit) and I will be hunting our backyard (Saddle Mountain). Not only does my property straddle 2 hunting units, it also straddles 2 counties (washington + columbia), luckly my house is in columbia where the taxs and the building inspectors are humane.

Re: Controlled Hunt results available today
I would like to be the first post to be ****** off at ODFW.
I am from Idaho where you get your game tags at the gas station on the way to camp, no draw. So I'm still learning the Oregon method.
I put in for a starkey unit hair tag w/2 points and didn't get it.
Rubber Robin says he got it with no points at all??
Do points mean a damn thing or is it a strait up lottery?
If it's a lottery then why give imaginary points.
I'm sure there is a logical reason.
Someone please enlighten me.
Sean

Re: Controlled Hunt results available today
I think there is an explanation in the regs, at least there used to be. It goes something like; 75% of the tags are put out on a lottery for those that have PPs, and 25% are put out for anyone, whether or not you have PPs.
So you had a chance at the 75% and the 25% and he only had a chance at the 25% because he had no points. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending it. It's a little odd, but it does give anyone a chance at a tag regardless of points or no points.
