Don't give up, Bernie!
For you basketball fans....Remember Jimmy V's words? "DON'T GIVE UP, DON'T EVER GIVE UP?" .....this is what I keep telling Bernie. He has asked me to go Tuna fishing 3 times, and he has picked those 'you can't go fishing on this day, Terry', 3 times in a row. He is 3 for 3...he is 'killing me' p p
I am a 'Tunaholic' already (through these Salty Dog pages)....and I have never been. I'm still a 'Dryland Tuna Virgin' who dreams through all your stories. Last Saturday (my Son's birthday, and a close friend's wedding, (I told you he knows how to pick the days) I was in a tuxedo in a 'hot church' thinking of the Big Blue, while Bernie was ON THE BIG BLUE , bathed in blood. Of course, when I checked my messages, there it was, a message from Bernie about the 'Blood Bath'
Keep calling, Bernie....please "TT"
aka Tunaholic Terry

Re: Don't give up, Bernie!
Sounds like you have some mixed up priorities. I would have taken the kid fishing for his birthday. Skipped the wedding and dropped by the reception with a nice gift.

Re: Don't give up, Bernie!
Weddings and fishing are not compatible.
My advice is avoid making plans of any kind and regard any wedding invitation as a plot to deprive you of the flattest ocean most killer fishing day that guys will be talking about for 20 years.
Just my $0.02.

John, you scare me a little because you think like me when summer comes around. My wonderful wife Cindy is a jewel and a half when it comes to my fishing. She knows that the weekend is stress relief time for me and that summertime is my time to play. I limited my fishing this late fall and winter and scaled back my springer fishing too to spend more time with the family.
Kinda funny how things work out though. She plans all kinds of stuff during the summer for example: College Orientation in Providence RI for my oldest daughter in June. (The boys, Pop's and I went out and killed tuna). Oldest son is doing some summer school for Algebra 1 because he let his grade slip and did not meet his Cem requirement (so much for the week the wife planned to spend at the beach cabin). Graduation party for a friends daughter (I was tuna fishing and the invitation came to late.........she got a nice card and a little check). The youngest has swiming lessons starting today (he's lucky they are not on a saturday, he can still fish). In two weeks the oldest son goes to church camp, week after that, youngest son goes to church camp, week after that wife and son's go to a church family camp, two weeks after that wife takes daughter back to RI for college (With everyone gone all the time a guy just has to go tuna fishing right?). Oh and day after labor day the kids are back in school.
So the wifes summer was over starting June 1st this year. I tell her every single year, don't plan a bunch of stuff as I have some previous appointments. Deaths of family members or close friends come before tuna fishing and the wedding of a close friend I will make an exception for. Graduation parties or your kid turning 6, 16, or 26, sorry I'm at the ocean unless the weather craps out.

Re: Don't give up, Bernie!
Ok, boys...especially 'Something Good'....Do you want my 'kitchen pass' to be revoked forever? I must go to certain family functions....Or else no .......
You know what I mean? Bernie, Lori is like Cindy. I don't have to ask to go fishing....she has always understood that fishing is a 'needed unwind' for me. But family is #2 and fishing is #3...
OK, Bernie pick another day, hurry .....I'm there in a heartbeat....
