Default East Lake Questions?

We are headed to china hat for some two wheeled off-road enjoyment next week. I think we are going to take the boat also, as we will be camping close to east lake. Any info about trolling (I do not have a down rigger), flyfishing local streams, anything within 30-40 mi. of East lake would be helpful.

Thanks

Sean

Last time I fished East Lake, I couldn't catch anything but chubs! (I was bank-bound)

I've trolled my whole life without a downrigger and I still catch fish ...
I'm partial to the "Ford Fender" + worm for starters - but watch the dudes who are catching fish, do what they do ! ! !

East Lake has a great star-show!

Try fly-fishing around the edges in the evening.

Paulina Lake contains big kokanee. And big browns, too, but I've sure never hooked one.

I have had good luck on east lake trolling
crankbaits and large floating rapalas around the weedbed edges at the dropoffs. Most fish are caught in 20 feet of water. There are big browns cruising the weedline so, make sure your tackle is up to it. I use a spreader setup with a four foot leader and one ounce of lead. The lake also has huge brook trout. Fish the north shore crack of dawn with small rapalas ( sinking )Good luck!
