Default Shad

Anybody been after bait lately? I heard it slowed down this last week and was wondering if its done, or if maybe it has picked back up. Numbers at Bonneville were still decent.......

I went yesterday to get some bait prior to doing some sturgeon fishing up at Bonneville.
We anchored in 11-13 feet of water up at the shad rack and managed to land 9 in about
1 1/2 hours. Got a lot of bites that didn't stick. Anything chartreuse was just the ticket.

6-7ft of water
2-3 ounces of lead
2ft dropper
3ft leader
small red and white on both side (not red on one and white on the other). back bounce it back 100ft or so bring it back in and do it again.
On my trips we have been when it was good about 60 in a hour and a half with 4 people fishing. It has slowed considerabley but we are still getting 15 or 20 in an hour and a half. Get them quick I think we are nearing the end.

Out of Camas and at beacon Rock I can hardly get to the bottom without a hit on 2" chartreuse curly tail grubs on 1/16 ounce jig heads. Camas, 12' water, 1 1/2 ounce lead. Beacon Rock Sturgeon deadline, 20' water, 8oz. lead. Also released two oversize and took one nice 45 incher at deadline yesterday. Inlaws from Az had a ball with Sturgeon and with one of the three poles used for shad, we had a steady stream of crab bait coming into the boat. Willies Rule.
