Re: Contest, contest contest/Tournament
Hey Dan, after they read thru the rest of the Looking for Lamisnap thread I don't think very many would risk seeing the cr*ck at dawn? And I Ben Dover and wash my hands in the natural saltwater too. By the desriptions I've been getting I bet I could get into the local plumbers union meetings without a card! ...
Contest? I have posted before that I am kinda against fishing contests for salmon and steelhead because ... I can't remember why I said that ... oh ya, it makes everyone a worse liar than they already are. I guess with a bazillion cohos out there this year that any boaters crossing the Columbia bar out to the whistler and turning south a ways will have an easy boat limit. So the contest would maybe have to be for the biggest 'ho? Or 'nook? (as you suggested) OK, I'll enter for a dollar and also buy a lottery scratch ticket too.

Re: Contest, contest contest/Tournament
I am all for a fun day on the water. Mabey the contest should be for the first boat back with a limit. Obviously have to make catagories based on the number of people in a boat. The prize could be donated tackle, reel, rod or net or even a hosted fishing trip.
It should be a fun outing not a competitive fight. we don't want to promote racing to the ramps.
OSMB states that Authority to conduct regatta's, boat races, marine parades, TOURNAMENTS or exhibitions on Oregon waters must be obtained from the State Marine Board IF extra or unusual water safety hazards may result, and must be received 30 days prior to the event.
I think if planned carefully with rules the tournament can be handled without permission, but you may want to call OSMB to verify first.

Re: Contest, contest contest/Tournament
I thnk the jist of Dans post was to have a little friendly competition between a couple of Ifishers. there should be no racing or putting anyone at risk because they are just fish and they will be there when conditions are better.
a little friendly competition just for the giggle and maybe an adult beverage or a soda for the winner or gas money for the winners boat (maybe bragging rights for a week) something small and relatively low key.
I'm sure Dan will add his .02 cents when he reads this...

2 cents heck go for the whole dollar. Looser has to buy the first round at Annies, then RT and Mr. Fisherman Buys the rest. I'm not talking about a big woop ta doo.

Dan!,
I'll be on that Seaswirl on the first so I don't even want to go there.
I think you would have smelliest vessle right from the dock.
Hey, wait a minute. Does the winner have to make it back to the dock?
I'm in
