I was just on this fire as the incident commander the last two days. A Oregon Department of Forestry incident management team is now assigned to the fire. It is located in the north end of Hells Canyon on private land.
Check out this bear I took a picture of this morning. He was pondering for a bit but he made it out just fine. I saw some nice bulls in there as well but I was busy fighting fire and didn't get any pics.
I'm very familiar with that area. Have one question. Can you see the fire from the Cold Springs road and where is it in relation with the Oregon, Washington state border?
You can see the fire from the Cold Springs road. It is located just below Lent Butte. The location from the state line is 1 mile south of Washington and 6 miles east of Idaho. It sits at the mouth of cottonwood Creek and Horse Creek.
Big snake country as well. I saw 6 rattlers myself.
The cherry creek drainage burned a few years ago during our hunting season and they had the road to cold springs blocked at the billy meadows junction.
