Never mind
This should have been done privately and that's what I did.

Re: Never mind
Captain Bravado
Once upon a time, there was an officer of the Royal Navy
named Captain Bravado who showed no fear when facing his
enemies. One day, while sailing the Seven Seas, his lookout
spotted a pirate ship approaching, and the crew became
frantic. Captain Bravado bellowed, "Bring me my red shirt!"
The first mate quickly retrieved the captain's red shirt,
and while wearing the brightly colored frock, the Captain
led his crew into battle and defeated the mighty pirates.
That evening, all the men sat around on deck recounting the
triumph of earlier. One of them asked the Captain, "Sir,
why did you call for your red shirt before battle?"
The Captain replied, "If I were to be wounded in the
attack, the shirt would not show my blood. Thus, you men
would continue to fight, unafraid."
All of the men sat and marveled at the courage of such a
manly man's man. As dawn came the next morning, the lookout
spotted not one, not two, but TEN pirate ships approaching.
The crew stared in worshipful silence at the Captain and
waited for his usual orders.
Captain Bravado gazed with steely eyes upon the vast armada
arrayed against his ship, and without fear, turned and
calmly shouted, "Get me my brown pants."

Re: Never mind
Comeon Stew, several us put down a River runs through it, on the movie thread. That makes it fishing related in a round about way, right?
SalmonShark, that was hilarious. It took place on a ship that floats on the water and fish live in water....see the connection.....???

Amen Brother Stew!
Ridiculous. I for one would like to second Bigstew's suggestion of deleting the movie thread.
If you don't want to read political "brain sharing" (thanks Fobb for the new term) then by all means, DON'T READ THEM AND DON'T REPLY TO THEM I guess some folks just have had the "teet" in their mouth too long.

Re: Never mind
From what I have seen the political posts on here have been mild as far as political posts go. They can turn really ugly real quick, but don't seem to on here.
Now if a post was nothing but name calling and no actual discussion going on I could see deleting it.
But when people are stating why they feel so strongly and stating facts, it's another way of educating people. Same as when people post topics of a fishing technique. If it weren't for the political posts on here I wouldn't have a clue what was going on in the NW as far as environmental issues at the gov't level were concerned.

Re: Never mind
Good teet for tat 'Yall. And funny story Shark. I've heard it before and lol'd. As for any metphorical value here though, let it be known that pirates aren't on the 10 ships that are surounding the "ship o' fools". When you get your brown pants remember that it looks good in cordaroy. ...
I've always thought that heated threads on ifish have been relatively civil - at least compared to many other BBs of all kinds. And they have usually been a boon to stimulating sportfishers to action against fishing political agendas that are not fair. And the heated ones about the course of the ifish ship have brought out many rightful opinions which can lead to a consensus of what direction the majority of members would like to go here, IF they weren't deleted when not in line with the very original ifish agenda. And that is fishing related because this is a fishing discussion board. If it is a "community" as refered to by it's queen then the leaders should not be telling the members to shut up or we'll shut your mouth for you; and it often isn't warranted at all! Sometimes it is and that's fine with most of us. But I no longer recognize a commnity here - it's become a monarchy.

Well, if you don't like the monarchy you can always change your residency. God, isn't freedom wonderful? RW

Re: Never mind
"God, isn't freedom wonderful?" Sure is RW. That's partly what this issue is about. As for the common 'you can hike if you don't like the way we play ball' bit is sooo lame. Read about it in Pilar's "I don't want to get drafted" thread. ...
If ya run into Bob up on the Kasilof tell him hi from me and to keep sending all those eggs down here. I know ya will.
