Exclamation Thunder Jet Help

Hey everyone,
I just bought a boat from my boss, He takes care of everything VERY well,
it's an 2003 '19 Luxor with a 350 and American Turbine pump, the boat has 65 hrs on it. The problem is that the tachometer isn't working, I know the seller had no idea or he would have mentioned it. He's on vacation so I can't ask him.
Does anybody have any ideas, before I take it to the shop?

In advance, Thank you

I am assuming you have looked the back of the gauge? Maybe the cable somehow got disconnected or knocked loose? Try tapping the gauge itself too. Sounds minor. Should be something you can fix yourself and not have to have the shop fix. TJ uses good gauges.

I have the same setup and my tach has been "flaky" for a few years. I have to tap on it occasionally to get a correct reading. Can't find a bad connection, so when it goes out or gets too bad I'll replace it or send it in to Faria. I've read Faria has very good customer service.

Look on the back of the tach. Check if there is a little switch that is used to change function from 4-6-8-cyl or outboard. If there is take a little screwdriver and turn switch from one position to another & back and forth several times. Then set at correct position. Sometimes the contacts bridge with a little corrision. Hope this works for you cause it did for me. If not call Faria.
