Default Stocking-foot wader boots.....rubber sole, felt, or felt/caulk??

Time for a new set of boots. Been using an old pair of basketball shoes for a while, but, of course, they rotted out. I've had felt soles, and regular lug/mud type. I've always preferred the lug/mud, just because it seems like I'm in the mud more often than not, and the felt just makes a couple of banana peels on the feet when loaded up with clay. Never tried the felt with the caulk soles.

Any opinions??

T.R.

Oh yeah...velcro straps, or shoe strings?? Straps always wear out and load up with crap, strings are tough to untie when it's 34 degrees and raining.

Strings and caulks ... I like the medium height Danners ... you can sometimes find them at the Danner factory outlet on discount.

Felt and strings. I've always had felt, better traction on slippery rocks.

I can't say enough good things about the Danner River Gripper with studs. I've had them over a year now and they haven't let me down once. When I was hiking into the Canyon after a rain, those bad boys were still gripping those mud slopes. Able to wade across the vedder river in Canada when others were afraid. Simply awesome shoes for the price. Just don't wear them in someone elses boat if you want to keep them a friend. You can get them for $85 if I remember correctly from the Danner outlet located by the airport.
