Default The New 200 Story

O.k....the wifey "caved" a couple of weeks ago when my old and well worn 200 Merc laid over and died a dignified death, and allowed US to buy a new 200 Merc. We were leaning toward the newly redesigned pump and 2001 Model 200 Merc. About a month before the old motor broke...I had Steven's rebuild my old pump, and install a 4 blade stainless impeller. When we talked to the salesman, he said we wouldn't get anything for our old pump, so we kinda paused a bit about what we were gonna do. We caught a glimpse of a flyer with "Close-Outs" on the top of the page, and noticed they had a year 2000 model for $8300..give or take $50.00. We asked if they had any left, the salesman told us "No". Then my wifey chirped that "The guy we talked to over at Tigard said they had some..." Well....they never told us that, but the salesman scratched his head, and said he'd call their Medford dealer just to see. Sure enough..they had one. I won't go into the rest of the details..because I hate to type...and it'll take too long. So I'll sum it all up for you all. First off...the motor is awesome. I used to think my old 200 kicked butt, but boy was I wrong. I still haven't opened the new one up all the way 'cause I'm still in the break-in period. But where my old motor performed at 5400 rpms..this one equals the performance at 4000. For Steven's....the workmanship was excellent (I've never had a problem with their workmanship)...but it seemed as tho every salesman has a different price. My recommendation for anyone dealing with the sales end would be to talk to as many different salespeople as possible...just to see where you'll be better off. My own opinion of how I was handled as a customer was more like the salesman KNEW I had to get a replacement motor, and KNEW that he didn't have to go out of his way to please me. So there you go!! I'll see you out there!!

Hey Fish. Mission just remember to not take any banana's on board to jinx the new motor and stay away from all that rocky shallow water up that way.

Anyway good luck with that new one. At least your wife will let you get one. If I want a new boat, it will probably have to come with a new wife. That would be expensive.
