Default Crabbing report newport 7 /13

Just got back home took my mom with me got limits thursday and friday in the bay. 48 total for 2 days. Got almost all of them on 2 pulls at high slack tide. Weather was hot with hardly any wind both days. Everybody else were slaying the tuna and salmon and bottom fish.

We dropped three pots north of newport on the way to the tuna slaughter and were rewarded with 15 keepers on the way back in. We only kept 4 that were half full.

Well i always use chicken with a can of cat food that i punch holes thru. But this time i had tuna salmon and bottom fish that i used also over the top of my bait boxes full of chicken and the cat food. And plus crab smelly jelly so I basically had just about every bait a crab could want. Probably why I always kick but when i crab. I crab from walport to the cr in most of the bays so I know the areas and a lot of the tricks of the trade. I always do what is legal to do never ever had any kind of ticket in the pursuit of fishing or crabbing or hunting ever or boating. As an example many years ago I was crabbing in walport and blowing all the othe people that were crabbing there away and word got back to the game wardens that there was no way we could be getting our limits with my dad and brother and me. Well we were out at night time crabbing which if u have ever crabbed at night crabs are basically night feeders. But most people would never think about going out at night especially in a bay like walport. Its not to hard along as u have good lighting and know your area. Plus make sure tide is coming in not running out. Well we got back at midnight after 3 straight days of limiting out where most everybody else wasnt catching many. Well the game wardens were waiting late night for them. Well I said hi guys u want to check ours crabs no proplem. Well i dont think they were to happy before they were all legal just like every time i go. I always make sure to double check all the crabs before i come to the dock. Just like today I had my mom counting the crabs at newport today and we were getting near our limit so i said this will be last pull. Well she said we had 24. Well I counted again and there was 30 so i thru 6 back. Thats why i double check. Next crab trip cr aug 4 have to catch a lot to feed all my freinds that will be there they will be counting on it. Got to meet alot of dogs the few days. I like moldy he was cool, he was busy cleaning tuna while i was cooking my crabs at the old boat ramp in newport. Cant remember all the other dogs names.
