Mr. Fisherman boat upgrades for Capn Dan!
Dear Mr. Fisherman,
It is a known fact that you are terrified to venture out on the old Sea Ray so just for you I’ve made some changes.
That hole that was in the bottom of the boat I have repaired with duct tape and yes I did install it on both sides. I do however, strongly feel that the bilge pump would keep up with the flow especially if we bailed a little ourselves.
Now the kicker, I think that my idea with the cataract oars will work Rick75 volunteered to beat the drum and use the whip as necessary to keep up the pace The Vikings went to sea that way for years and think of the gas we would have saved.
I know life jackets would be nice but as much wood that is on the boat there is plenty to keep us afloat and remember we are purty big boys and that STUFF (*%^&) does float and I’m sure that we do not have to worry about you melting if you know what I mean.
Now cane poles have been used for years and have accounted for many a big fish. I hear in England that this is how they tournament fish but I will try and get one where the reel actually works. I should have went to the wind with those guys and cleaned they say that they found tons of mono laying around I could have untangled it and then be set for ten more years.
Now I have another idea to bounce off of you. I have those five big Labradors they could act like sled dogs for the boat. We could rig some type of harness for them and have them swim fer shore if we break the oars. If they need help you could swim with them. Sorry I would but I don’t know how to swim and somebody needs to steer and tell our wives what actually happened in case of the worst.
Now for water in the fuel, Well it might have worked. I just couldn’t figure how else to get that gas gauge to say full and then to think that the motor would not run on a full tank of gas.
Now the prop a few dings and chunks missing is alright as long as you ding it and remove chunks from the other blades in the same spot.
Now yes the oil did concern me and I did pick up a few more gallons. I found a spot I could get it real cheap at the local dump ground they have a barrel of it and every one just gives it away. Recycling is what they call it strait from their engine to mine and the oil slick behind the boat is a bait enhancer I think at least we will have something to follow on the way back in.
I hope these changes work for you the duct tape did cost a buck fifty you know.
LOL Capn Dan!

Don't forget the rope and pulley for raising and lowering the out drive. I figure that we could use the Gaff to steer again. (man thats a long day trolling).

Dan,
Nice to see your investing so much on your upgrades. Duct tape on both sides of the hole? Isn't that a bit extravagant.
Have you been over lately to the dump in Longview and taking all my good oil?. I don't mind you catching fish on the Washington side just don't start messing with my used oil!

Re: Mr. Fisherman boat upgrades for Capn Dan!
Dan!,
You shouldn't have!
I didn't even see your post on the one person you would like to fish with thread .
Now about that hole that you fixed so well..... Just how far off the jetty are we going to be this time? Do you still have a way with Sea Lions or are we gonna have to resort to the flare gun again?
As for the bilge pump, last time Rick was getting a little green from the fuel and oil in the bilge and by the way, he fixed the plug in the porta pot. I'm not sure it was on purpose but it's all clear now. In fact I don't think you could get the plug to seal if ya found it.
I'm glad you found that bait in the bait box! You know that Herring is going to be hard to come by and cost money. Overstuffed shad fed maggots are just the ticket, and their free! I'll bet we get a 50# nookie, sure she'll be spent and look like a Dunlap but what do you expect with bait like that?
As far as the whip and drum, you just quit teasing me. You know I'm trying to concentrate on catching a fish.
You didn't mention anything about the compass. It never really pointed anything but North since you spilled that bottle of Viagra on it. Any change yet?
I can't afford one of those fancy smancy u-r-peeing poles. I'll just have to borrow yours or troll that nest of line you found last year around the prop. Good thing you didn't throw it away .
I told you you could have a drink of water not the whole gallon! That was good quality drinking water! Next time get it from the hose. That unleaded makes it taste funny and gives you awful burps .
Free oil, that's just swell, but last year you were able to get that New Coral is a to take the blame. Guess we'll have to follow the first tanker headed out huh.
As for the $1.50, that's why tou make the BIG bucks!
Have the flares been replaces and are they more accurate. Couldn't even hit the coast guard tower last time to get their attention. By the way, the range on that can and strings is no match for a radio. Maybe we could just take a high power rifle and a bunch of shells and use mores code.
I think this is going to be an outstanding adventure. I'll be out standing once I swim to shore.
Seriously though. I'm game. Give me a paddle and start drumming.....
Besides, it's kind of cool to see the fish actually swimming in the boat
Later....

Re: Mr. Fisherman boat upgrades for Capn Dan!
I hope you all don't find this post offensive. We are just trying to have a lil fun. We could both use a fishing trip soon.
I've fished on ol' Dan!'s tub a time or two and we ALWAYS get into the fish. Guess that explains that smell . I'll be headed out with Rick on the first and then every weekend as long as I'm welcome for the duration of the Silver season. Keep an eye out for us. We can get mighty creative when we have to.
Rick, can you find a pully? We can get by with the bow line if that solenoid goes south again. We will have to play rock sissors paper for the one to jump over the side to disconnect the outdrive
Later,
Ray

Re: Mr. Fisherman boat upgrades for Capn Dan!
O.K. Now you dun went n fended me. I hadn't baught the tape yet but I was relly gonna. Now i'm gonna use the old stuff off n that pole I was gonna loan ya. It was the one that had the line we found on the bank last month and ya know that was the best stuff we had. And i'm keeping that bait we used during April's springer trip its been fermenten in my bait well for a few months and should be about ripe by then. And I'm only bringin two of my labs so you will have to swim that much harder. The one thing I'm not gonna do is try to fill up that gas tank again from the hose that was kinda stupid I guess.
Also I seen that you are planning to fish with Rich75 every weekend for the duration of the season. Just go ahead a leave me without a boat wench. Your burritoes aren't that good anyway I can make much better chum with pickeled eggs and stale beer.
LOL

Re: Mr. Fisherman boat upgrades for Capn Dan!
Oh great, now you guys have me worried. Dan, I'll be happy to help fix anything out in the open, but if you think I'm going for a swim when your duck tape gives, you've got another thing coming, mister! Make Rick do it, unless he hurts his back again , of course.
Oh by the way. I'm changing out the oil in my truck this week. Do you need any more? I'll give you a real good deal on it.

Ray,
don't forget your jumper cable battery pack when you go out with us. You never know when those darn batterys will decide to quit on us again. I'll bring extra gas and some water so we get the mixture just right...

Re: Mr. Fisherman boat upgrades for Capn Dan!
Rick,
You know that I don't want to loose that thing and I don't have a life jacket fit for it. Last time I had it on that tub it looked so out of place, being so shiney and all....
But in looking back we got the boat started again before we ran onto the piling dam. How did he know I had that thing in my bag anyway?
