Default Timothy lake

Any reports from Timothy Lake? I've never been there, but I'm taking the family up there to camp in a week and would appreciate any advice, pointers, hints, secret, etc. I'm taking the boat, so trolling would be an option. The kids love catching rainbows!

Thanks for the help.

Is that all you can catch at Timothy Lake? What about the shiny critters with gills?

I have not been there in a while but we used to catch quite a few trolling wedding rings. We went along the opposite shore line from the boat ramp and trolled fairly high up. Good luck - Tom

Timothy is huge. Lots of water to explore..

There are big fish in the lake if you know where to find them.

I haven't figured it out yet...

Browns
Rainbow

At timmothy you will almost always catch more on the boat than on the shore so don't even try the shore

A week ago crawdads were excellent, trout fishing was worse than poor, form others I talked with giving the fishing a go. We fished some , nothing.

I did mark what I think were kokes in the center area's of the lake at about 45' over 50-70' of water. I did not fish for them, it was very windy and really didn't have the right boat and or equipment with me to fish them or anchor. If I was going back thats what I would target right now.

If you don't connect with the fish, keep your sniffer tuned for some babyback ribs. My neighbors just left to go stay up there and they took a big pot of ribs. I had to suffer while out front packing up the boat while they let that aroma just drift all around me (while packing the trailer). Cruel, man....just cold.

Whats the water level like for putting boats in at this time of year?

I've driven by the lake but have never seen the boat ramp. Is it cement or gravel, or.....?

Thanks.

There are 6 ramps that I know of. One at each of the 4 camp grounds, one just west of the dam and one at the north west eand. The ramps at the camp grounds are better and I believe all are cement.

For shore fishing I've found the most action at the dam end of the lake, either directly on the dam or from a nice floating fishing dock that goes out in the shape of a T about 50 yards out from the dam. They are your typical rainbow farm trout - 9 - 12" average, but heard rumors of brooders & bass caught in the same place. There are about 4 or 5 campgrounds along one side of the lake where it is more shallow. I heard people from camp say that they were biting orange power bait there the day before, but the night I was there I didn't get any luck in the shallows, trying both multiple color powerbaits & worms. When I'm deciding where to camp for the weekend, I always make sure to check out the ODFW Stocking Schedule for the North Willamette zone to look for recent stockings. The thing to know about Timothy Lake is that it is listed on the stocking report as Timothy Meadows. Sometimes I'll camp near Timothy or along the N. Fork Clackamas, and go drive to Faraday, Trillium or other lake which is recently stocked. The entire area is beautiful and there are lots of lakes to try if one gets boring.

Cheers,

- Tyler

I have never heard of any bass in there, that would be shame.

Just got back from there. Great fishing near the Dam, fishing pier, and near the log-boom. Yellow, Orange, and Red powerbait all worked great. Trout ranged from the skinny farm 8-9inchers up to 16-18 inch nice ones that had been around a while. Saw several caught on wedding rings while trolling as well.
Have fished there for years and never saw a bass in Timothy Lake... not sure were the bass comment came from.

Yeah, it's a nice little lake. Caught a couple rainbow and loads of crayfish, it was a tasty night.

I can't help but notice that this thread is 2 years old
