Default Willy out of Newberg report

Met up with Dragon67(Dan) at Newberg for a morning session of smallies before it got to hot. We fished from 5:00am till 10:00am.

We caught a lot of fish on craw colored cranks, lippless cranks, spider grubs and dshotted Fakos.

Here is Dan with big fish of the morning. He caught on a dshotted Fako.
3 pound 12 oz.

Another shot of that fish along side a different smallie.

Me with a couple.

Some of the fish spit up salmon smolts but there seemed to be a lot more crawdad remanants in the bottom of the livewell than baitfish.

All fish released to fight another day.

You guys weren't kidding when you said Dan's fish was skinny across the back. By fall that fish should be an easy 4.5lbs. Hopefully next week I can get out on the water with both of you guys.

Acually the way I heard the story is that Clayton smoked Dan like a cheep cigar except for that one fish. Of course having fish with Dan many times myself I know how it goes. It seems like 95% of the time I fish with Dan I out fish him from top to bottom and then he will luck out with one fish that comes out of no where and I end up leaving the water with my head hung down in shame.

Sorry Dan but the truth had to come out.

I see.....so the real story comes out.
Hey, I'll take a luck fish anytime! Dan, you gonna take this smack from him? I see a fishing duel brewing. A six pack says Dan spanks ya next time with the heaviest 3 fish.
We so need to all go fishing again.
Hunt'nFish

PS: that one blackie Clayton is holding up reminded me.......I caught a totally BLACK ~16" smallie over on Oxbow. Thing went ape @&%...must've just come up from the depths to feed...man was it aggressive.
I need to teach Chance to take pics.

Your right Mike, Dave does talk alot of smack. I guess he goes for quantity and I go for quality. Of course I really haven't seen Dave do much this year except work on his boat, but hey what do I know. As far as Dave out fishing me from top to bottom I think he is smoking the cheap cigar with something in it. But Clayton did lay the smack down of me at first but when we started the top water action I think we were both having too much fun to care or keep track. Strange though, we were having the top water action and my spinner with a willow spoon didn't do anything, or my minnow that goes just under the water.

So Dan do you want to lose this bet on Monday or Tuesday?

Once Dan and I have the place and time set up I will post it for all who want to enjoy the show.

Boy you two are just way to willing to had over your money to me.

I talked to Dan this morning and it looks like the duel will have to wait for awhile because he says that he want to wait and do it on the 23rd or 24th. Personally I think he is just trying to get in some extra practice since I know for a fact that he plans on going fishing in Newberg on both this Sunday and next Wednesday.
