Default Trout Fishing Questions?

I was wondering where a good spot to take my two n phews fishing would be. They are 8 and 5 and they have been bugging me to take them fishing. I want to take them but do not want them to get turned off to fishing by taking them steelheading. I fish the N. Fork of the lewis often and although I have been yielding decent results I highly doubt they would enjoy fishing hours for one or two fish if any. So, I have a drift boat and all types of gear and poles for trout, and steelhead. Can anyone please help me out with where to take them to get them some action. I live in vancouver and would prefer to stay in Washington and somewhat local but I'm open to any suggestions. Also, if you could tell me how to rig up and what method to use I would really appreciate it.

drift boat with out a motor could be a problem you could oar it but I would say try lacamas at least the inlet part and little round lake you should be able to make it under the bridge I would stay off the main lake though to many boats on hot days, better yet battle ground lake would be good no motors allowed so it would fit you great

ive used everything most of the time there is plenty of people around to ask what they are hitting on that should be a good lake for your boat just remember if its hot the lake may be busy with swimmers near the dock and some out playing on floating logs good luck post up how it goes

When I try to keep kids into fish this time of year I go for bass or panfish. All you need is a hook, worm, and maybe a bobber. I don't know Washington lakes but I hear Silverlake and I think Horseshoe Lake (right on I5) are pretty good. If your interested ask the people on the Bass and Panfish forum.

Along with the places mentioned in previous posts, there is Klineline Pond off I-5 in the Salmon Creek area. I know they've stocked it a few different times since April. Check the WDFW site for what has been stocked recently.

Well we went today at Battle ground lake. It is not nice out their. Water was so filled with trash, it was sick. It made me really appreciate the rivers I fish. We fished for about three hours and got two little tiny rainbows 7-8" I let them go. Saw a few other people fishing out thier with poor results as well. The kids still had fun but were upset we did not catch more fish. I think I should take them bass fishing like suggested. I also might take them out night fishing for steelhead, they were upset they did not catc much but are excited to get back out their.

sorry for your bad trip, when I fish there it is in the off non swimmer season and the lake is not thrashed. sad to see the people using it that way. as far as the fish go I have caught some big fish but earlier in the year, look into getting a 8hrs longshaft for your drift boat even if its a older modle say mid 80s is as old as I would go you can hit alot more lakes and alot more fish
