Default LCR Flies for Steelies?

Does anyone bother throwing flies in the favored shallows and off the beaches of the Big C? I have some seriously weighted ties from my Rogue fast water days and have been wondering if it's worth trying to work them with a 9wt.

great question! I too have wondered how it would be to try casting flies for steelies off of hamilton island by bonnieville dam, those steelhead run fairly shallow.

someone has to have tried it.

I have tought about it and now that I have a spey rod I probably will... some day. Early season (i.e. now) is the time because they'll go deep once the water warms up. Flashy flies with some green/chartreuse should work just fine.

SB, I agree with the color suggestion. I guess a few of us ought to hit the water, fish hard, and compare notes. Hopefully I'll get out tomorrow or Thursday - it depends a lot on the heat, although an early start would seem to be indicated anyway.
