My Top Ten (but not necessarily in that order)
1. Shawshank Redemption
2. Braveheart
3. The Green Mile
4. Stripes
5. Caddyshack
6. The Matrix
7. Hunt for Red October

9. Gladiator
10. The Crow

The Sixth Sense gets honorable mention, but only because of the effect when seeing it the first time. Just doesn't work when you watch it again.

Here's mine (not in order):

*Pulp Fiction: As a bonus it has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard.
*Star Wars - The Empire Stikes Back: Good dark ending.
*Clerks: whiney kids in their mid-twentys ***** and moan about their station in life. Very witty dialog.
*Goonies: a true classic Ba-by Ruth??.
*Braveheart: blood, guts, and honor. good stuff.

I dont know the names of the movies, or the color of the girls eyes, but they didnt include any annoying dialog or wardrobe budget.

And movies with dialog not in any order:
Outlaw Jose Wales
High Plains Drifter
Kellys Heros
The Quick and the Dead
Silence of the Lambs
Caddy Shack
Topgun
Shawshank redemption
The Rock

90% of all movies made with either, Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, Harrison Ford or Mel Gibson.

There are so many to chose from!

First I would choose:
"Once Were Warriors" and its sequel, "What Became of the Broken Hearted" Both New Zealand made movies, so I don't know if they made it to the US?
Piano, another NZ made movie

Sixth Sense
Full Metal Jacket
The Green Mile
Schindlers List
Something About Mary
Braveheart
Sleepless in Seattle

The last movie we saw was SHREK This is a MUST if you love a good laugh

Angel

You can really get a sense of member's cultural tastes this way. A few that haven't been mentioned that I love.
Seven Samurai
The Usual Suspects (who is Kaiser Sozé?)
American Beauty (another Kevin Spacey film)
Psycho (or anything by Hitchcock)
Dead Calm
and I can't believe you Clint fans missed
Unforgiven

The others that were mentioned that I also love:
Private Ryan
Schindler's list
Traffic
Pulp fiction
Resevoir Dogs (I don't want to be Mr. Pink!)
Fargo

There aren't many movies I won't watch though..... kind of a movie ****

FuzzyButt and Angel,

Once Were Warriors was an awesome movie. Yes it did make it to the U.S. I watched it about three years ago.

Awesome to see someone mentioned ANIMAL HOUSE before me

Now here's one that definitely has been skipped

[B]MAD MAX 2 [b] The Thunder Dome one.

I've seen Summer Lovers with Darryl Hannah.

Platoon, very awesome movie, indeed.

Tin Cup was a good movie as well.

Any Given Sunday I've seen 8 times from beginning to end, including the director's version 4 times.

Natural Born Killers

And for overlooked movies, and I'm sure I'm not alone on this one guys:

ALL OF THE PORKY'S MOVIES
"So why do they call you Meat?"
"Ummm, why do they call you Blossom?"

Citizen Kane
High Plains Drifter (& every Clint Eastwood western)
Sands of Iwo Jima (& every John Wayne war movie)
Treasures of the Sierra Madre (& every Bogart movie)
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Every James Bond movie, some more than others

A River Runs Through It definitely has some good lines, especially the one about not being late for church or fishing -- and it's great when the Brad Pitt-guy comes UP from the water, rod first, with the fish STILL ON! Of course! Oh ... was I in the water?

This list will change tomorrow

Too many good ones! I love most of the ones mentioned. If I had to pick out one that stands out in my mind I would say "The Sound Of Music". And also *M.A.S.H.* (a timing thing!).

OK, here are the people who have been invited to star in the movie biopic on my life (to date):

William Holden as Pike, "The Wild Bunch" ("Let's go!")

Daniel Day Lewis as Nathaniel Po, "The Last of the Mohicans" ("Stay alive! I will find you!")

Al Pacino as . . . you know ... "The Godfather" ("Today we settle all family business.")

Harrison Ford, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" ("It hurts here, here, and here")

Clint Eastwood as Blondie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" ("We're gonna have to earn it.")

But enough about me. Some other movies I keep putting on when I come back from the bars and it's too early to sleep and there's no fishing tomorrow:

Animal House
Caddy Shack
Pulp Fiction
Apocalypse Now
Don Juan DeMarco
Fight Club
Angel Heart
For a Few Dollars More
Platoon
American History X
There's Something About Mary

Prize for "Triggering sweetest memory of High School" to the Ifisher who mentioned "Wizards". Wow! The fifth row in the movie theater would never, ever be the same again . . . .

Quirkiest movie not on anyone's list (I think), "A Boy and his Dog" ("Best girl I ever . . . .")

Dude, Secret of Nymh was an awesome movie.

You D.A.'s all forgot to mention one of the best and most hilarious movies EVER made is:

NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION

although the other ones were funny, Randy Quaid made those other movies funny.

This is a really cool thread. There are a lot of movies on these lists that I haven't seen, but have always intended to. A few others to add to the list:

Die Hard,
Space Balls,
Patton,
ET,
Jurrasic Park (only the first one, the rest suck)
